The Great Gatsby is indeed a tale of excess, capturing the opulence and moral vacuity of the Jazz Age
Characters like Tom, Daisy, and Gatsby navigate a moral landscape where wealth and status often dictate actions, leading to a decay of ethical standards.

As crimson and gold limned the first autumn leaves, Arthur stood in the garden with bated breath, waiting for a storm to burst on the vacuity of his life and fill it with adventure and romance.

But every year, when August ended, his life was exactly as it had been before.

Everywhere we look across this grey-toned fascist-lite government, pathological obsessions with the irrelevant and the infantile, from goddamned road cone snitch lines to every kind of emotional vacuity to outright industrial malice

it's a shame they never quite hit the Mars/Sirius heights again, tho Savauge had a couple of real stand outs. (Vacuity is amazing, a metal march of quarter notes)

But From Mars To Sirius... what an album to stand on.

Quite. Sadly none of these mediocroties have the intelligence to understand such basic realities. Instead they hide behind their intellectual vacuity as if that in some way is a virtue.

It's almost as if Reeves set the whole thing up to expose the utter vacuity of the MSM in general and Badenoch in particular. So much egg on so many faces. Not so smug now eh, Henry Zeffman, Vicky Young and BBC Politics. Call yourself journalists 🤣🤣

It is “an absolute vipers’ nest,” as one government official said last weekend. “This is no way to run a country.”

Morning. We have yet to experience the magnificence of any eagle where we live (Mid Wales) - daily we see and hear Kites and Buzzards, in their dozens; beautiful creatures! They [raptors] are part of nature and should not be subjected to the hate, prejudice and vacuity of a few humans.

It does. We learn so much from other writers, other art forms. Without knowing them (& thus what we’re reacting against) our innovations risk vacuity. But learning’s also part of consciously fostering an idea of excellence. A yardstick. If we drop it misguidedly to ‘help’ anyone we won’t do our best

Likewise to the argument that "cozy" games speak to moral and personal vacuity.
One of the most emotionally honest games (including in negative ways) that speaks to the moral and personal sensabilities of the author is Undertale and Deltarune, which are games that are both horrifying and cozy.

Can confirm. I was in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, yesterday, which is adjacent to Garrett County, Maryland (I was about two miles from the border), and they're all very excited about His Imperial Vacuity up there.
When Trump denied disaster aid to Maryland, he apparently thought he was punishing a blue state. But the afflicted areas are Garrett and Allegany counties. Western Maryland is Appalachia. Those counties are deep in Trump country.
