About
This lecture examines how in the early medieval Frankish kingdom different ethnic groups—Franks, Romans, Alamans, Bavarians, Burgundians, Lombards—were governed by distinct legal traditions. It challenges views of fluid identity and shows how legal pluralism persisted in courts and daily life.
