We discuss their decisive role in determining which issues of public interest gain salience and which news sources and interpretations are selected and amplified, and question the issues at stake. A few years in the making, but seems to be still quite relevant (for all the wrong reasons!).
Bravo to Silvia Keeling and @urbanz.bsky.social for their decisive work in carrying the ball over the line! We propose a comprehensive theoretical framework that captures how social media algorithms shape, facilitate, or obstruct public opinion formation as a process and as a product.
The last bit of the Algocount journey is finally here! Our article on the conceptualisation of an "algorithmic public opinion" is now published on the new, fantastic journal 'Dialogues on Digital Society'. You can read it here: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

See you next week in Coventry @ University of Warwick for a seminar, a live streaming and a podcast recording on neo-craft work and digital disconnection! Thanks to the one and only Carolina Bandinelli for the kind invitation ❤️
We suggest that the pandemic has newly put under question the (Western) conception of enjoying and deriving meaning from one’s work, based on the neoliberal ideal of self-realisation, and show how this online forum has been able to aggregate a set of conversations aiming at «resisting work». Enjoy!
We qualitatively analyse the top 100 posts (which obtained the most upvotes) that appeared on the reddit.com/r/antiwork subreddit between March 2021 and March 2022, and develop a thematic categorisation of those posts based on the interplay of personal experiences and cultural conceptions of work.
New publication alert! The article by Costanza Guazzo and I, titled «Work Is not Working Anymore? The Rise of
Anti-work Demands across Online Spaces in the
Coronavirus Pandemic», has just been published on the journal Cambio. It's open access, check it out!

In Marseille for the 'Meso-Level Perspectives on Paid Work in Contemporary Societies' part of @ercresearch.bsky.social project DESPO led by Anne-Marie Jeannet. Intriguing discussions about work, politics of production, but also small planes, a cooperative tea factory visit and of course (neo-)craft!
