A (long) thread of (anglophone) #StarterPacks and #feeds of interest to #EarlyModern #skystorians.
The first two posts list a sample of hashtags for which Bluesky feeds currently exist. The following forty-two(!) posts list starter packs for scholars of various aspects of early modern history.

Not the most realistic depiction of Charles V I've seen. 😅

A fascinatingly long lived Jesuit! From memory he was quite polemical in his youth but became friendly with Protestants later on... Definitely deserves a biography. 😅
Frankly, if he's calling them not to protest, he is basically *inciting* them to protest.
Yes, when you remain silent when 150k far right protesters march through London, you lose the moral high ground.
It's interesting how the book lands differently now. Some of its arguments have become controversial over time.
I feel that all that hard work that book did to restore agency not just to accused witches but also to the anxious mothers who accused them is increasingly being erased and ignored...

Took my mum and aunt to St Peter's yesterday. Really recommend booking ahead and adding the Duomo. It's a long way up but stunning views, including the Vatican gardens.
Plus, I was able to point out the entry to the archive. 😅

Better eating fish than giving into an urge to follow Anabaptist prophets and practice polygamy! 😜
(Not too nice a Reformation joke, I hope!)

I must confess that I had never heard of her, but the tributes make me wish I had.
Strange how this resurfaces now because I can't see anything new reported here. The Private Eye (!!) did some reporting on it in the spring.
I tried Mastodon before coming here. Any reason to go back?
Given his overenthusiasm for Catholic Stuarts, it's probably a good thing he didn't get to see the end of that sad tale. 😅
They were a highlight from my visit to Hamburg as well (but as a Dutch person I have an excuse!)
It's better on Protestantism, and on England. For some of the Catholic stuff the background reading felt a bit thin.
First I went for train and then I switched to plane after it was the word. I don't think there are any other good transport words out there. 😅 (Coach? Cycle?)
We discovered the reconstructed Colossus of Constantine yesterday in the garden of the Capitoline Museum.
Mum added for scale! 😅

Hm. I was looking for a present for my partner's birthday. Guess I've found it. 😅
Ooh. That female detectives book wasn't on my radar before and looks very good! (The others do too of course)
They got elected by .1% left of the Tories and they are trying to do the same again with Reform... It didn't really work then (34% of the vote). It certainly won't work twice.
What I don't understand at all is why this government is so set on appeasing people who are almost certain to never vote for it, while constantly upsetting those who would.
The "hard decisions" seem to legitimise that strategy but it doesn't make it any less ridiculous as an electoral strategy.
