I've been working on the last pass of the next mythology script when I can. I'm slowly getting closer to finishing but damn. There's never enough time in the day. I just wanna make cool videos. Why I gotta have responsibileries or whatever Tommy Pickles said.

One of my mods posted a stream from Megalodon who had a bunch of statements from streamers of all sizes and shared abnormalities in her own numbers. I've even seen other bigger streamers note changes in their numbers too. So something has changed but fuckin what exactly? Shit's frustrating.

Anecdotally, my numbers shockingly fine and actually saw an uptick recently before my inactivity. And I've seen other people growing as well. But at the same time there are, anecdotally, people like yourself and others that just have some random unexplained drop off that Twitch just isn't addressing

That'd be referring to how many different individual streams any one person can be watching rather than length of time. Afaik you can be counted as viewing up to 5 streams but anything more and the account might get flagged. So a single IP address can only watch so many streams.

The scene changes as they're "fine tuning" but just like... fucking be upfront about it? Be like "hey yeah your numbers are gonna look weird for a bit" if that's the case. Shit's too vague yo.

It really is. Like a lot of this isn't new. But the ad blocker and 3rd party app thing is something I wasn't aware of. I still think this sudden drop off everyone is seeing is a seasonal change alongside the COVID bubble finally dropping off but it still feels like there's overlap with behind

Aspect of that would overlap and flag the lurker. Up to 5 tabs should count regardless but I doubt anyone using those sorts of apps are doing their follower list wholesale. They'd be crazy bastards if they did XD

I was actually curious a while back and looked it up. There's a bunch of apps specifically for lurkers so they can just make a favorites list and have them auto-open so they don't miss their favorite streamers or to help their friends out. Given the way botting works I would guess the automation

People's most recent concern in what's being perceived to be a pretty tectonic shift in Twitch traffic in the last few months. Twitch has said they're actively tuning the viewbot detection but like, if that's affecting things just tell us. Or is it really just that the COVID bubble has burst?

So 100% no shade to OP here.

Highly recommend looking at this cuz I feel like the vast majority of Twitch streamers don't actually know their CCV and Chatter list aren't the same thing nor do they know how their numbers can be affected.

So another big health update. It looks like the medication my neurologist wants me on got approved. So the last piece of the puzzle to reclaiming more of my life is falling into place.

I'm so fuckin happy y'all. I haven't started it yet but she's pretty confident it's right for me.

Straight up killing their ad revenue w/ a change that does this.

But it's entirely possible they fucked up, the drop in numbers isn't due to Twitch's gradual decline & lurkers are getting caught in the crossfire but they just don't want to admit it while trying to fix the problem in the background.

Things like usual drops in viewership patterns due to time of year or the gradual slowing down of Twitch viewership can be the culprit.

I'm still not fully convinced because Twitch would be actively shooting themselves in the foot since lurkers are a majority of the platform users. They'd be

So I'll def admit Ive been defensive about the whole "Twitch is screwing lurkers" thing.

A lot of my defensiveness comes from this being a similar song and dance when numbers drop due to easy explanations in Twitch traffic changes. But admittedly, evidence is mounting this time around.

Im heavily considering rebranding with my new model and such.

I love being 0pti but I have another name I use in my day to day that I think fits me better and would stear my work and aesthetic.

I dunno. Feel like it might be too much of a change. Plus I think my name elicits a good 1st impression.
