ICYMI: Kennedy Chandler was great last night as he spoke about why his preseason opportunity with the Sixers means so much, and how Tyrese Maxey, Kyle Lowry and T.J. McConnell have all helped him improve:

“Man, I was just waiting… It just happened.”

Sixers preseason provides Kennedy Chandler the minutes – and advice – he's been 'just waiting for'
Kennedy Chandler, 23, is fighting for his NBA livelihood. A timely opportunity in Philadelphia to play and learn has made a massive difference.

Tyrese Maxey, asked about Adem Bona last night: "The only problem I have with Bona: stop fouling. Stop fouling, dude... Don't do that."

Andre Drummond was later asked about Bona's fouling.

"Tyrese is being hard on him. I'm a little more lenient..."

Full comments from Maxey and Drummond on Bona:

New: I wrote about Kennedy Chandler, whose 16 points, five assists and four steals last night represented a performance years in the making.

Playing with the Sixers in preseason, Chandler has received the minutes -- and advice -- he was "just waiting for."

I actually didn’t notice it in the moment and then saw the replay maybe 30 minutes later and was like “holy shit” lol

Here’s Nick Nurse on Dominick Barlow’s play since the start of training camp and chances of cracking the rotation:

Here’s me + @ginamizell.bsky.social asking Andre Drummond about his two made threes in tonight’s game and his continued work on his shot.

“It’s something that I’ve added to my game… Just shooting that same shot at a consistent rate and being able to hit them without even thinking about it.”

Kennedy Chandler was asked what he’s learned about how to survive as a small point guard in the NBA:

“T.J. McConnell.”

Incredible stuff in today’s box score:

Nick Nurse says Dominick Barlow “for sure” has a chance to crack the Sixers’ regular rotation, and that he’s been their best player at power forward so far.

New: Nick Nurse is thrilled about how Tyrese Maxey has looked on the offensive end as a result of the team's new focuses.

Also: the Sixers continued to embrace physicality, size and crashing the glass tonight, plus thoughs on Justin Edwards and Hunter Sallis: www.phillyvoice.com/sixers-news-...
Instant observations: Tyrese Maxey's 'free and easy' scoring on display in Sixers' third preseason game
How is Tyrese Maxey's offensive role going to evolve in his sixth NBA season? The answer was once again evident during the Sixers' third preseason game on Friday night.

Nothing shocking in tonight's Sixers rotation. Eric Gordon ended up getting the night off despite being active + Nick Nurse saying yesterday he thought Gordon would play today.

17 points in one quarter for Tyrese Maxey and a team-high 28 minutes for Hunter Sallis.

Story coming!

After three: Magic 94, Sixers 90.

The scoring continues, and in the final minutes of the third quarter quite a bit of it came from Kennedy Chandler. He has 16 points and five assists.
adamaaronson.bsky.social
Andre Drummond hit another three. I think he did the bow and arrow celebration, but I blacked out. #WelcomeToTheMoment
adamaaronson.bsky.social
No Tyrese Maxey to begin the second half. The Sixers saw enough with his 17-point opening frame. Maxey is a strong candidate to start for the Sixers this year.

The Goldfish Blimp is dropping Goldfish into the crowd while small children play five-on-five. Nothing like halftime in the preseason.
adamaaronson.bsky.social
Halftime: Magic 66, Sixers 66.

It continues to be a high-scoring affair here. Tyrese Maxey leads all scorers with 17 points despite not playing in Q2.

Kelly Oubre Jr. has 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Dominick Barlow has 10 points and six rebounds.
adamaaronson.bsky.social
After one: Magic 34, Sixers 32.

Sixers were disheveled on defense. Their early offensive rebounding was stellar, as was Tyrese Maxey (17 points, 7-14 FG).

Pregame, Nick Nurse raved about the freedom Maxey is playing with offensively as Sixers prioritize ball/player movement.

Sixers are absolutely decimating the Magic on the offensive glass. Five offensive rebounds in the first six minutes of the game.

Super early Hunter Sallis minutes tonight. He's the Sixers' first perimeter sub.

Perhaps the best way to mention Dominick Barlow’s activity on the offensive glass early on tonight is to show this screenshot:

Adem Bona picks up his second foul 102 seconds into the game. He's been called for two early personals in all three Sixers preseason games. Second one was on a made Wendell Carter Jr. jumper; Bona was not pleased with the call.
