Great tidbit from The Athletic, via Optastats. Pretty good company for Kerry Carpenter.

Carpenter became the first player to reach base five times and hit a home run in a decisive playoff game since Babe Ruth in Game 7 of the 1926 World Series, per OptaStats.

And I don't trust Chris Ilitch to step up. I don't know if he'll pony up to keep Skubal, but if he does, he probably won't back it up with any reliable bats.

I don't see us having the best record at whatever point you want to choose next year. So there's that close...but not really feeling.

The disappointment stems from the second straight year we've had Skubal going in an ALDS Game 5, and it's the second straight year we've lost it. He certainly did his part, and the the bullpen gave up just 2 runs in 9 innings. But those bats, save Kerry Carpenter...needs upgrades, shall we say?

The numbness is wearing off, the pain is beginning to hit.

Oh wait that's the flu shot.

But also the Tigers.

I'll be pissed in the morning.

We we're better than Seattle, but they weren't really better than us, either. I'm really hoping that Toronto pummels them, so there's no lingering feeling of What If?

i mean, the TIgers were living on the edge the last few innings, bailed out by double plays.

I've been numb for a bit, kinda gave up hope when Riley Greene flew out with runners on base. So....this sucks, but it doesn't hurt immediately like it would have if they walked it off in the 9th or 10th.

To be fair, Seattle doesn't deserve to win this game either. I'm pretty much numb to whatever happens at the end of this game.

Dingler double helps, though.

Is that....hope that I feel?

GOT THE DOUBLE PLAY AND GOT OUT OF THE UMPSHOW!
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
Get this double play and get out of this umpshow
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
That was in the exact same spot as the last two pitches

MLB cheating for the Mariners now. How the fuck is that not conclusive?
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
Dammit....Tigers don't deserve to win this game.
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
Just don't hit into a double play Parker
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
Base hit! 2 on none down!!!
ahtrapsm.bsky.social

What's Jahmai Jones gotta do to get a chance?

Cold Keith just failed again.
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
Yeah, Melton! Way to go kid!
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
One more, Melton.

I don't know about walking anyone to get to Rodriguez. Maybe walk him too.

Oh hey, the Aces mopped the floor with the Phoenix Mercury just like everybody predicted.
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
I've got a bad feeling about the rest of this game. That was our chance, with our supposed best hitter up with two on.

Prove me wrong, Tigers.
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
Walks will kill ya, right? It cost us in the last half inning.

Make them pay, Riley!

Appreciate the Fox broadcast recognizing Aurelio Lopez
ahtrapsm.bsky.social
Surprised the broadcast didn't mention the 17 strikeout game Gibson threw against the Tigers in Game 1 of the 1968 World Series.
