I can’t believe this is the conversation I’m having rn with my friend to plan for what happens if ICE racially profiles, illegally detains, & abducts him.

But here it is in case it’s helpful to anybody else.

Have not seen/am not familiar with the show. I will look it up, thanks!
Not a huge fan of SVU, but I have to give last week's ep props for having a character state they are asexual, & having that character step in & do the "Hey friend, I haven't seen you in ages!" move when a woman was being harassed to get her away from the creep.

Being SVU it all went bad, but still.
The ones that say "we saw you checking this out" are equally, if not more creepy and annoying! Online retailers please take note!
Today's Petty Gripe: When you put something in an online shopping cart as a bookmark to maybe get later, or simply so you can find the item again, & then receive an (I read as snarky) email from the site saying "Did you forget something?" Like, NO, I did not "forget" I'm just biding my time!

Many think poverty is an individual failure, but it’s really a societal one. It’s a shared responsibility we keep avoiding

The irony is that wealth is treated as individual success, even though it depends on society itself

Wealth reveals the nature of our own humanity & #UBI becomes a moral right

Think about the juxtaposition of an ICE agent expressing horror at being hit by a sandwich... and an ICE agent shooting a man for trying to protect children.
Gen X (or possibly Gen Jones) here - sometimes even, or especially when, one is struggling, those small treats are the only way to keep sane or sometimes even keep going.
Long ago Mattel copyrighted a particular shade of pink known as "Barbie Pink." I couldn't swear to it, & don't have spoons to research, but I think it happened in the mid-80's about the time that Jem items were released in a very similar pink shade. The whole Jem/Barbie release war is fascinating
I dunno. I seem to recall hearing/reading news reports of "layoffs" numbering in the thousands from large companies "cutting their work force" for months, if not years, now.
Also cleaned up some cat vomit, as well as the usual morning feeding of them all, and cleaned up a broken glass situation.

AT last I can take a moment for tea and some breakfast! And it isn't even 1 yet...
It's Monday & I am Getting Stuff Done! Called & arranged possible roof inspection/gutter clean by our fabulous roofer in prep for Wednesday's storm. Got paperwork, which I had to deliver in person, to clinic. Called Recology re bin situation, got new cc balance for this months budget tetris. Go me!
One of my long time favorite albums that I forget about until I listen to it again, and then sigh "Damned, that's good!"
Apologies for being a poop. But yeah, those seemingly innocent quizzes that ask for things like birth year, or your "stripper name" based on your pet or childhood street, or any other seemingly innocuous information is often part of data mining to get identity or demographic info. It bites.
Not to be lecturey, but be careful with these prompts, they can be used as a form of data mining, and they tend to pop up a lot especially as elections approach.
The car radio bit is truth.
hea'ds up
It doesn't seem to matter if it goes forwards or backwards. I always feel like crap the day the clock is switched.
Me yesterday with Henry-cat, the perfect autumnal kitty. Io and I got dressed up to go to the Dia de los Muertos festival yesterday. Sadly at the last minute we pooped out and didn't go, but we did take some pictures.
It certainly encapsulates why having children is a choice everyone MUST be allowed to make w/o coercion.

Within the scope of the movie the only people *safe* are the child-free

I wonder how folks who have children feel about this movie & what it says?

Also, cameo by Grant Morrison as an expert!
Watched Mom And Dad this evening. I was very impressed by it, both for the mundane horror building up to the outbreak of mayhem & murder, & the psychological exploration of the sometimes parasitic relationship between parents and children.
It's so good and has so much heart!

And also, Warren Peace is played by Steven Strait, who grows up to be James Holden in The Expanse, and that blows my mind!
And your nephew has Halloween as a birthday! Yay!
