Uh, no, it is actually not the job of individual consumers or corporate purchasing to prioritize the health of a non-corporeal entity — “the economy” — over real and direct personal consequences. We’re making ”the economy” a more socially responsible entity by refusing pointless churn & waste.
Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever and it's costing the economy
Americans are holding onto devices longer than ever before, and while it may be consumer smart, it comes at a cost to work productivity and the U.S. economy.

OTD 2018: #DoctorWho The Witchfinders
Life is righteous when you’re a 17th Century landowner: you have a big wig; the King will visit you; you can get any woman who disturbs you drowned as a witch.
You’ve only two things to fear.
It’s in the trees. It’s coming.
And the Doctor.

Also the idea that authors are sitting on mounds of cash and so pirating is fine makes me think of the old poetry community joke that we're all broke and passing around the same ten dollars to buy each others' books.

Most writers I know are working at least one other job while writing.

One of the best skills in life to have is "how to find information" and this was taught to me early on by a librarian.
My philosophy as an academic librarian was always to teach people how to find the information they need rather than independently find the information for them. Librarianship is a teaching profession.

"Father Ted" is a 30-year-old sitcom that appeared for three seasons. Maybe it's time to drop it from transphobic bigot Graham Linehan's bio in the newspapers.
