I saw some people doing introduction posts so yes, I'll be a copy-cat. Hi, I'm Daniel Fugate. I write game news and do reviews of video games-mostly Nintendo and sometimes Xbox-at GamesReviews.com. I also talk about books and do reviews of them at my blog roland19.wordpress.com

I have also been re-reading Becoming Superman by @straczynski.bsky.social. Its JMS's amazing autobiography. The personal story is jaw-dropping. Even re-reading it, I'm on the edge of my seat. Also I love all the behind the scenes of the various shows he's worked on too.

I am currently reading The Bookshop Below by @georgiasummers.bsky.social. I'm 89% into it, so I've made a lot of progress. Its a really good book. I can't wait to write my review for it. That should be soon I would think.

In case you missed it yesterday, I have a new home and a new review book. #books

New home, new review book! At my book blog, I update you all on my new home, a new review book I got yesterday, and what I'm currently reading. I should be totally fine on book reviewing. Yay. I love it. Please check this out: roland19.wordpress.com/2025/10/08/a... @neuvel.net #books
A New Home and A New Review Book
Sorry I haven’t posted much lately. I’ve been moving to a new home. Its my first apartment ever. So. I’ve been very busy. Though I did manage to get a new review book from Net Gal…

Spellbook and Potions
😈🎨🦇

Working on something new but it's totally an experiment so in case it doesn't work out, here's an appropriate older piece. (The original is in color but I like how it looks in b&w).
Watercolor painting of a woman at a table with an assortment of bottles, salt, and mushrooms on the table. She's in front of a large bowl that's acting as a cauldron and smoke billows out of it. Behind her are shelves full of more bottles and old books.

I have to go looking locally for a job soon. Everyone keeps telling me there are no jobs around here. I have seen some listings on-line, though they could be old. I'll be looking around town and online. Hopefully I'll find something.

I am looking for a PAID position. I am currently writing for Games Reviews and while I love it, it does not pay. Any reposts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just putting this out there into the world. You never know. I am 45 years old with a BA in English and minor in Creative Writing. I've worked for various websites-writing game news and reviews. Plus I have my own blog where I preview and review books. If you're looking to hire a writer, please DM.

Seems like a lot of people have pets, especially dogs, at the new place. Its difficult to get use to that. I'd have a pet myself but they charge you a big amount, also I can barely take care of myself. lol

I've been thinking a lot about writing this opinion piece. Yes, Journey was a transformative experience that fundamentally changed how many of us saw the medium of videogames. But that doesn't mean we should compare all meditative indies to it.
Indies Are More Than Journey - Pixelbytegaming
For a certain subset of players, no meditative indie videogames existed until 2012 with the release of Journey. And in a way, no other have. The impact this unassuming game had cannot be underestimate...

I can't do retail, because my math skills suck and I can't do anything that requires driving because I don't drive. And I have zero work experience to put on an application. Yeah. We'll see I guess.

Still need to clean out more of the old place, move some more stuff over (just boxes), get a new ID, and a working phone. Then I go job hunting. Everyone keeps telling me there are no jobs around here. We'll see.

But at least I can play online, talk here, and download updates. Just not all at once. lol. I miss my old internet. sigh. I was so spoiled. ha
df2506.bsky.social
I was playing online with AC friends and I lagged. We had fun for awhile though. Went out of Animal Crossing and discovered a Disney Dreamlight Valley update was downloading. lol. So I'm sure that did it. Internet here isn't the best.

I saw my mom. She was at the hospital getting blood drawn. Since it was right across the street, I wandered over there and saw her. She was happy to see me and my new haircut. We talked a little bit. I will go back and see her tomorrow.

Thursday. I am going to go visit my mom today. Not sure if I'll get anything else done. We'll see. I did a ton of things yesterday. Still much more to do. sigh
df2506.bsky.social
I have not. I'll keep an eye out for it. I love a good ghost story.

I bought a new-to-me (used) book for my Stephen King shelf back at the apartment. Its The Black House by Stephen King & Peter Straub. I tried to read it once via the library and couldn't get into it. Same thing happened with The Stand and then I bought it. So hopefully that work for Black House too.
df2506.bsky.social
Well. The Switch 2 does not want to connect to the library internet. sigh. I guess back at the apartment's community room is the best I can do for now. (though I should also try the college library's internet eventually)

I got a haircut, visited a used bookstore and bought a Stephen King book, changed my address, got a library card, and now I'm in the library using their wifi!
