Not. Cool.
Odd being airbrushed out of The Ultimate Guide to Star Trek, 60 Years on the Final Frontier. There's Roddenberry, J.J., also Kurtzman and Orci... but where's the guy who wrote or co-wrote, Treks II, IV and VI, who directed Treks II and VI? Now I know how Trotsky felt - waiting for the ice pick...

Smart people have already written about the many problems of generative AI better than I could, but I’ll tell you this about the thing I know: writing is about writing. It’s an action. A verb. It’s what we do. I write, you write, they write. Skip that and you’re not a writer.

Current status-- actively demanding that one of my (only) 200 words in my up coming review of (the brilliant) DEAD BUT DREAMING OF ELECTRIC SHEEP by @paultremblay.bsky.social has to be the word "abide."

If you know you know. And soon you will all know.

This article is incredible. It says everything us actual authors have been saying for years, but with a smile on its face.

“If you hide that there’s A.I., it sells just fine,” she said.

Uh huh? Tell me more. Like how you published 19 novels to sell 20,000 copies. An average of 1000 copies a title.

Pretty sure it’s still me, actually, since nobody is gonna come up to you at a signing and tell you how much your slop meant to them.

My wonderful Animal Crossing friends are playing today and I can't play with them. Not having my own Internet is one of my least favorite things about my new life.

You Matter.

You are the reason someone smiles.

You are amazing.

Keep being YOU and don't change yourself just to please others. 🫂🩷🩷

Like I don't care if Han shot first. I think it's funny people get upset that he didn't in the special edition.

My opinion is that 'canon' is a tool. If it helps your story, use it. If it hurts your story, ignore it. Someone else can explain your story later if they want. lol

People getting enraged over whether or not something is "canon" for FICTIONAL stories will never not be hilarious to me

All of this. I am the first of my target audience.

Part of this is, if you aren't creating for someone, it's like creating for everyone, which is creating for no one.

And as a writer, that someone should be me since I HAVE to reread my work over and over and over 🫠 that's publishing, bay-bee
"Why would I read something someone couldn't be bothered to write" is a great refrain but I would also add as a writer "I won't write something I couldn't be bothered to read" because that's what every one of my books are: something *I* want to read.

This reminds me of the tech bro who was just so proud of himself for "writing and illustrating" a children's book in a weekend using gen tools. They want the Xbox Achievement to pop up in their life. But question none of these people ever seem to ask themselves is "is it actually any good?"
