depends on the chapter. The book is written from two perspectives with conflicting needs, so they both have good reason to want each other gone.
Horror is known for having both natural and supernatural antagonists, like the landscape or a ghostly presence.

Q4 #HorrorWritersChat

In your current WIP or latest published horror work, who or what antagonises your protagonist?

I think I'll be self-publishing my Dracula reimagining, maybe next year. In the meantime, try my erotic gothic horror trilogy NOCTURNAL CREATURES, which is a Nosferatu-like Dracula meets Beauty and the Beast story.

Something for long, cold nights.

Evoke some empathy by tying a threat to precious things like family, security, sleep, ect.
Then, show just enough of the horror to pay it off without explaining every last detail.

I would do that. I'd also try to spoil my smoke detectors and be very careful with the microwave. If the big horror were taken care of, the little horror of interviewing appliances to solve crimes would be a fun series. Miss Marple-esque. #horrorwriterschat

WIP: My character is a waitress who is antagonized by androids who look a lot like humans... except one is covered in hands, one has two abyss for eyes, one has a too-wide smile, & one is a talking baby. They have no thoughts of their own, they are Empty Monsters.

#HorrorWritersChat in my upcoming Gothic YA novel, RAVENFIELD HALL, it's a confluence: Landscape is beautiful but deadly, people in the isolated coastal setting may or may not be ghosts, all are potential threats to my heroine who also can't trust her senses. A case where *nothing* feels truly safe.

In my last work, the antagonist was an extremely fucked up deer lol. I generally didn't lean to the supernatural when developing horror stories unless it was like, a backstory. I love me some body horror
