Hong Kong fire and Grenfell are just alike. Fire spreading through unsafe building materials installed due to penny-pinching, killing dozens. One difference: before the HK fire is even out three executives at contractors have been arrested, eight years after Grenfell no-one has been arrested.

I mention the price of the vets visit because if my posts about Odin and Tanuki make you want a hamster, the vet costs need to be considered! Odin’s 100x50x50 cage was £140 GBP plus the bedding, the food, the wheel, the hides, they are not cheap pets when cared for ethically

Tanuki has a lump on her side and today I took to the vets to get it looked at. It’s too small for a biopsy but doesn’t seem to be causing her any distress, thankfully! I’ve been given medication to try for 2 weeks. This vet visit cost me £110 but this is what you sign up for with a pet

I'm trans and Catholic, so for me losing (or crushing) the soul will always be true dehumanisation. The body is just the thing I'm bending to my will, through the power of oestrogen. The flesh is a vessel for the human.

That said, the wrong body is just as horrible as none....

That's... a very broad question. I already do this in one of my WIPs; a short story collection set in Victorian London, focused around dolls and childhood. Dehumanisation is a key factor, as is the othering that comes with it and the perception (true and not) of a lack of humanity

I think that for me horror often involves exploring evil. In true Weatherwaxian fashion, I consider evil being treating people (or anything sentient) as things. I've written a lot of shorts like this, from artists turning using people as material to folklorists vivisecting nymphs

As much as I've been daydreaming about making tie-in dungeon synth albums to my monk-punk novellas, despite having no musical training or equipment, it has never once occurred to me to use AI.

If I do this, I will simply learn, or collaborate with whatever fool agrees to.

All AI music does is devalue the work done by human artists. It’s not accessibility, it’s exploitation. We need real protections for artists against AI!

BTW — even if you had access to this AI startup as a child, you still wouldn’t know how to make music.
