NY Times bestselling writer, cat slave, and nerd. No DMs unless I actually know you. No AI in my posts or my books. I wring them out of my writer brain drop by drop. (she/her)
Thanks for the tip! Just bought it.
Seconded, with an added recommendation of Phobetor's Children. Matt had such a great knack for mixing genres and for me this historical sci-fi horror was his best blend #horrorsky #booksky

I recommend his last short published short story "All Quiet on the Terraces" which made me cry because it was such a wonderful good-bye ghost story. But buy both as they are wonderful. @chaoticauthor.online will be missed. #horrorsky #booksky
#HorrorSky, if you haven't read the works of MG Mason, AKA @chaoticauthor.online, then this is your opportunity to do so. He passed away this week, and it's a damned shame more people don't know his stories. I recommend "Residents of the James Hotel."

Matt was a pillar of the horror community on Bsky and an absolutely magnificent person. Hug the ones you love, folks.
I'm very sad to share the news that our lovely @chaoticauthor.online has passed away. His ending was peaceful and surrounded with love but came far too quickly after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

I've known Matt for years. He was a warm, gentle, generous, all-weather friend. I miss him.

Reading the Salmonweird series by MG Mason. Delightful mystery cozies set in Cornwall where the main character is a retired detective inspector and also the only living human in a town full of ghosts. Just finished the Christmas one: A SALMONWEIRD SLAYING. Fun! #amreading #booksky

Happy Thanksgiving, all! I'm thankful for writer and readers and art and chit chat on Bluesky! #thanksgiving
It makes me happy knowing that Leia brought her boyfriend to Thanksgiving

$2500 monthly for family of 2 over here. More than most rents here. That's with a giant deductible too.

Pi Day! I bake a pie every year for it. Any holiday that involves pie is way up on my ranking (on the bright side: ANY holiday can involve pie). #writestuff
#WriteStuff Q6 Screw the big three ... which little holiday do you enjoy?

Another vote for Columbus Day. #writestuff
#WriteStuff Q5 If you could erase one holiday, which one would it be?

If I can change it to a short story, any of them by Connie Willis, although I'm partial "To All Seated On the Ground" #writestuff
#WriteStuff Q4 Best *novel* with a Christmas scene?

(hard mode on -- one that has not become a movie).
November 26, 2025 at 2:57 AM
I answered this out of sequence: Rare Exports, Edward Scissorhands, and The Princess Bride. #writestuff
#WriteStuff Q3 Best Christmas movie? "Die Hard", "Gremlins", and "The Long Kiss Goodnight" all count.

I have a lot of murders around Christmas in my books. It must be the Krampus in me. #writestuff

Finally got the chance to watch Frankenstein. So GORGEOUS! By far my favorite film version. The colors! The backdrops! The emotional resonance! Parts looked like Caspar David Friedrich paintings come to life. So wonderful.

Today's tea is toasted coconut with cream and sugar. With it I'm reading the second in the delightful Salmonweird series by MG Mason aka @chaoticauthor.online (A Salmonweird Sleighing, Christmas-themed for the season). What's in your cup and in your brain? #teasky #booksky

Loved St James Hotel. Very MR James.
Ahead of The Residents of James Hotel going wide in a couple of weeks, I have updated the file on Amazon, and on D2D to include the short story "Henrietta's Story" on the end.

If you bought the version without, don't worry, you're not missing out. It's still on the blog and will remain there too
The Residents of James Hotel: Henrietta’s Story
The Residents of James Hotel released today! This is a short story spinoff featuring the supporting character “Henrietta.”
