And it is REMARKABLE how often the cameras fail at critical moments or don’t download correctly, or the sd card broke or any excuse you can imagine. because they will always break them, obscure them, and tamper with them. The problem isn’t cameras, it’s sadists.
Like, I have to stress: the only material effect this "give them body cameras!" bullshit does is to give them more money. It does not give the police any more accountability, but it does give them more of a budget. And in ICE's case that's already a cartoonishly high amount.

I had high school classmates who disappeared at 16 because they were from religious families that forced kids to drop out and become full time farmers and/or laborers as soon as possible

Still mad about it
Oh and just more quick on the American education system since I'm nocturnal and so all my non USA friends are up

So in the US, education is mandatory through 8th grade. Which is 14.

Now, IIRC, in most places you can't 'drop out' until you're 16. The laws are different in some regions because
In the US, our high schools are 4 years, and we title those years: freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior. We generally start at 14 and end at 18, give or take a year for some kids depending on many variables.

I think for us, when we were sophomores is when we started 'waking up' politically

Bison cows exist. Keeping bison bulls seperate is wise husbandry.

Invasive species Cattle tear up the land in the west. Their hooves are the wrong shape, they are wet shitters, they don’t move along. Of COURSE this Dept of Interior is that ignorant.

The rise of Big Beef as an ally to fascism isn't surprising, but it does add an additional twist of Robber Baron absurdity.
The Dept.of Interior is sabotaging the MT bison restoration efforts of the group American Prairie, by revoking their permits, claiming that the allotments only be grazed by cows, not bison.

Yet another win for the beef industry, owned in large part by venture capitalists/tech bros.

As someone who volunteers in local Democratic politics I want to once again remind the Bluesky community that the Democratic base is your friend, and LIGHT YEARS ahead of the national party leaders on literally every issue
This poll shows that 74% of Democrats support abolishing ICE, with 53% *strongly* supporting getting rid of the agency.

Any elected Democrat who wants ICE to exist is outside the mainstream of their party and the people they purport to represent.
YouGov poll - In the future, would you support or oppose...

Eliminating ICE as a federal agency?
Support 42%
Oppose 45%

Reducing ICE’s size and funding

Remember when you had to show proof of vaccination to board a plane during Covid restrictions?

The right screamed tyranny.

They shouted “do not comply!”

Suddenly they’re fine with “papers please”, photographs and lists.

This is actual tyranny.

This is what they should be mad about.

My theory about bbq places:

The better the bread, the worse everything else is.

If you go to a bbq joint and the bread is fancy, brisket will suck, sauce will be too ketchup, sides will be stale.

If they throw a shitty slice of Wonder Bread at you from the counter, you are in for miracle meat.

In Australia, briefly during the pandemic, we raised welfare and pulled back on punitive “work for the dole*” and wouldn’t you know it? That helped unemployed Aussies much more than the current programs.

But you won’t see that talked about and we went back to the same policy that doesn’t work
This is such a widespread sickness among pundits. Pointing out that Republicans are lying about welfare fraud — and have been for decades — doesn't qualify as a publishable take.

So you get this bizarre fixation on optics and this amorphous demand for Dems to "admit" something they admit already.
