Yeah. But for the past several years it's been constant "you're not struggling, the economy is fine!"

I don't care what "the economy" says when a packet of frozen bean burritos is $9.
Apparently there’s grocery inflation discourse again, but as I’ve been buying groceries for other families during this crisis, often under duress, it’s brought me out of my own optimized grocery spending habits, which rely heavily on Costco. And damn, there is a huge price to pay for being poor.

Folks like to talk about how Norman Rockwell was more liberal than we remember, but a big part of that is that he represented a broad American consensus that was more liberal than we remember.

The idea that Americans haven't died—in huge numbers—specifically to defend multiculturalism is horseshit.

If you want to dismiss this, the exact same shift happened on immigration.

I'm old enough to remember when "build the wall" was mocked as a fascist delusion even by fairly conservative figures like Clinton, then it became "we'll build the wall but better." Do not forgive and do not forget.
This is horrific and a reminder of how we got here.

Also: Clinton's a massive terf and she's only gotten more blatant about it over the years, so I'd expect "we'll dismantle trans rights, but the correct way" to be a similar talking point as 2028 gets closer.
Hillary Clinton: "More people were deported under my husband and Barack Obama without killing American citizens and without putting children into detention camps than were in the first Trump term or this first year of Trump's second term."

A technology company advertising HIPAA compliance isn’t advertising privacy. They are advertising to healthcare professionals they meet certain security requirements and will sign a specific agreement (Business Associate Agreement) that the _healthcare provider_ can be compliant when they use them.

This so much.

Not all health information is covered under HIPAA. HIPAA applies to protected health information as processed by *specific* groups (Covered Entities). Technology providers must comply to specific security requirements when they are bound, by contract, as a Business Associate.
So yeah, people goof.

But what's not a goof: Claude is not your therapist. Is not a therapist at all. Is not bound by HIPAA. Please do not tell Claude your business.

As a former public defender who represented thousands of people, I can’t stop thinking about the contrast the Epstein files raise.

I watched 1000s face swift, devastating punishment for far less serious conduct — poor, marginalized, & presumed dangerous from the start.

I've played Dragon Age Origins to completion 9 times, so probably that.

Arcanum of Steamworks has been my early morning timewaster for close to 20 years so DEFINITELY that.

Disciples 2 is also likely just because there's so much of it and I've been playing it for 20 years as well.
Name a videogame you've put 500 hours into.

So I carved off a lean chunk of the steak before cooking it,

And made sure to set it on the edge of my plate, after I was done.

And then to look the other way. To let her steal it.

I got her her favorite thing, for her birthday -

Crime.

Lrs: I've kinda been waiting on that tbh. AI is low key a massive surveillance project. So yeah if you tell Caude, no shit whatever you said isn't priviledged any longer.

But I want to jump off that and explain HIPAA like you're 5, cuz I think a lot of people are missing details to their detriment.

FURTHER: “degenerate art” was targeted for destruction. Some of these pieces, we only have black and white photos memorializing. Sometimes less.

I’m an author and a librarian to be. Book bans aren’t a badge of honor. They’re violence.

Reinforcing the category isn’t bold or helpful.
*pinches nose*

Time for your quarterly reminder that degenerate is a Nazi term, indicating the literal degeneration of a gene pool. Things this referred to: interracial marriage! Queerness! Disability!

It pretty much indicates they don’t think you’re human!

It’s not a cutesy way to say “leftist”

The old GOP was in no way less evil, but they were smarter. They understood that the % of this country that actually glorifies in cruelty is much, much smaller than the part of this country that believes our patriotic mythology.

They tried hard to let people have their comforting lies.

I'm listening to this; reminded of the time I came back from lunch and my boss pulled me aside and said "you're not in trouble, I just REALLY want to know: what are you ON?"

It took me a bit to figure out what he meant- I had forgotten I took a metabolife, had also drunk a 20 oz red mountain dew.

Me: !!! (asks for clarification)
Customer: "Oh, it's ancient history, thousands of years ago."
Me: (asks for clarification in such a way as to demonstrate what I know)

I just ran across a bit of conversation where someone compared Newsom to Reagan and someone else argued- does the first person think Newsom would leave such a lasting legacy of harm?

I almost quoted my response but that would be unkind.

I think he would. I think it's begun. Here's why.
