I just ran across a bit of conversation where someone compared Newsom to Reagan and someone else argued- does the first person think Newsom would leave such a lasting legacy of harm?

I almost quoted my response but that would be unkind.

I think he would. I think it's begun. Here's why.

my white ladies, it’s time to go read about the history of fire, fire investigation, arson and fire safety if we’re doing this. Because 3 minutes to get Baby’s First Accelerant Fire going is just gonna get a felony charge.

This is a very hard question to answer if you answer it as phrased. But I do think I have likely seen The Way He Looks (Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho) EXACTLY 8 times.
Name a film you've seen 8 times

This is a great thread.

We all need to remember and teach the value of effort and work and the amount of time it takes to achieve your goals. And that it's ok if it takes time to do things.
I have done a lot of thinking about “the reading crisis”. And I mean a lot. Both as a student kind of stunned by what younger classmates don’t know or care to do, and as someone REALLY INVESTED IN EARLY LITERACY.

I almost pitched a proposal for a dissertation on this exact topic.

I know how it looks when people lead with "don't be alarmed" but really don't. But you'll see why i said.

I'm just reading my kobo, pondering an email I gotta finish and send, when I realize that everything is very sharp and clear, and I have the doom foreboding.

When the heck did she get big?

Omg . At Olympics they just banned a 3rd (!) Ukrainian athlete performance. THIRD! because of a helmet. Again ! You know what they found too political here? A line by Ukrainian poet . Line says ‘ Where there is heroism, there is no final defeat.’ POEM! Are they afraid of words now ?

Well holy fucking shit. Ring cancelled their partnership with Flock. Keep pressure on them to stop volunteering their feeds to state, local, and federal agencies, though, because that part's still going.

Writer friend and I were discussing this one earlier. It's not a thriller because it's tense, but also measured and doesn't rely on your racing pulse. It's a slow moving dread. It's not a mystery because some secrets must be kept. It's not a romance... it just isn't. Trust me.

Survival comes with a cost.

My domestic thriller The Silent Places is on for $2.99 until February 16.

ICE invasion made an epic use case for anarchists and abolition.
Just a big hug to all the anarchists in the Twin Cities who get dismissed all the time but knew exactly what to do when shit went down here.

OK yeah. I'm always afraid to say this because people will think I'm giving the US a pass but I'm not. It's just that Europe had chattel slavery of several ethnic minorities as well as laws similar to Jim Crow era over and over and over.

When people aren't legally people, it always looks that way.
It’s one of those online games of telephone where everything gets flattened and turned into a caricature of itself. “Some Nazis admired some aspects of Jim Crow” gets turned into “actually European antisemitism is due to the US”
I have no idea where “the nazis learned everything they knew about bigotry from Americans” came from but it is a particularly delusional form of American exceptionalism
