By a vote of 47-50, the Senate did not adopt the Merkley amend #3927, to limit the use of Federal law enforcement officers for crowd control, and for other purposes to S.2296, FY26 NDAA.

Senator Paul voted in favor.
Not voting: Senators Cortez Masto, Cruz, and Tillis

Leaning into the witchy allegations hoping to catch your attention.

Healthcare is on the line, it doesn't take a psychic to see that.

like I get it, I really do, and I'm not arguing against anything they might pass to make sure service members get paid uninterrupted-- but there's something about the way this issue comes up that seems to reinforce the idea that other federal service is not as deserving of immediate attention
musicologyduck.bsky.social
is keeping planes from crashing, keeping our food supply safe, providing cybersecurity, etc. etc. etc. less noble?
musicologyduck.bsky.social
I get why publicly worrying about military service members getting paid is politically expedient, but in an age of DOGE when the CDC is taking gunfire, I wish the concern about missed paychecks was expressed more broadly. (Also a high percentage of federal workers are US veterans.)

leather-ish looking object to the left of Mike Flood in the frame. It is semi circular with a hole or indent in the middle.

SCARBOROUGH: The Nebraska Rural Health Association says at least 6 rural hospitals would have to close bc of the big beautiful bill

FLOOD: Here's the deal: Some hospitals that are rural hospitals are going to eventually have to transition from being acute bed hospitals into being an ER model

yeah, i don't think he is. I think he got where he was in part because he seemed like he could be easily manipulated by the folks who knew they wouldn't be able to be elected speaker but still wanted control
musicologyduck.bsky.social
i wish i'd made a list of the members who still had this sign up so i could go do some follow-up this week lol

these signs were always funny bc graphic design is their passion but this week they hit different 😂
Sign in congressional office building that says yes! We’re open thanks to the new house republican majority. The apostrophe in we’re is upside down
musicologyduck.bsky.social
it's why we're getting them leapfrogging all over the place and spinning the same incidents in different directions

those who actually sort of know how to handle this in the media are either being silent (McConnell) or are falling back on McCain-style "maverick" positioning (MTG)

have said it before and i think it holds- many of these folks got where they are merely repeating Trump's talking points. They didn't have to think for themselves or take any responsibility for the messaging. But with the president's brain actively melting, now they have to, and they suck at it
