You can be as terrified or nonplussed or unperturbed as you like; the sun will still rise tomorrow & the rent will still be due on the 31st. The world has no romantic narratives for its fate except those we invent, because the world does not die. That is our privilege.
I said it elsewhere, but it’s weirdly exhilarating and addictive to be terrified all the time, and the people addicted to it, when they say this, may as well be saying “I can stop at any time, it’s just the world doing this *to* me.”
One of the reasons i love tolkien is the theme that despair is an enemy

do think people are not broadly making the connection yet that the software stuff means that anything theoretically automatable with software can now be automated MUCH more cheaply/easily. Like it's not "what will 'AI' do" but "what will reducing the marginal cost of custom software to ~zero do"

If there was ever going to be any proof that WikiLeaks is essentially dead, it's the Epstein files. Integrating this sort of data and making it searchable is right up the organization's old alley.

yes but iirc on palantir mentions denethor being far more resistant and outmaneuvering sauron due to being the legitimate master of the stone and that its only in his despair that sauron is able to turn it into the doom scrolling orb that gives Bad At Fighting Sauron trait, which is right at the end

once we retake the house and senate we should pass a bill extending statute of limitations on wtvr laws are best for prosecuting ice/bp and new super easy to procecute law with clear language about not applying/no clawback if you quit by idk 4/1/27
