You can be as terrified or nonplussed or unperturbed as you like; the sun will still rise tomorrow & the rent will still be due on the 31st. The world has no romantic narratives for its fate except those we invent, because the world does not die. That is our privilege.
I said it elsewhere, but it’s weirdly exhilarating and addictive to be terrified all the time, and the people addicted to it, when they say this, may as well be saying “I can stop at any time, it’s just the world doing this *to* me.”
One of the reasons i love tolkien is the theme that despair is an enemy

There’s a bunch of shit that needs standardizing on cars like bumpers desperately need more regulations. A <5mph fender bender shouldn’t result in thousands in damages
yes it's not the LED tech per se that's the problem (though LEDs have enabled headlights to appear in blue hues which is problematic for light pollution reasons) bsky.app/profile/bubb...
the problem isn't LED lights, though, it's DOT having far less strict standards for beam pattern & glare than Europe (whose regulations are followed by much of the rest of the world). The allowed height of the lamps and the allowed height of the beam is much lower in the ECE standard.

PDVSA doesnt really produce much oil, 1mm bpd of low quality and those numbers are entirely unsustainable. it was achieved by stripping out their old refineries for the cardon plant. All their equipment is on their last leg and if we invade all five are getting torched if we invade

The thing that made me despise TLJ is that it's just Johnson's parody of JJ's decisions in TFA and snipes at JJ's approach to Star Wars. The substance of most of his critique is good and correct. The cost is that the only animating force of the film is the director dunking on his predecessor.
