Le Wokisme? or La Botte?

Don’t mind me just tracing the gyres. Talk about politics a lot but mostly want to talk about Stevie Wonder and August Wilson. She stay in the hills, he stay in Atlanta, I pay for them both.

I haven’t asked in a while so!

1) What was the last work of art, in any genre or form, that changed your life?

2) When was the last time you changed your mind about anything, big or small, and why?
I am ontologically tired. What a fucking week. Jesus.

despite its numerous faults, it seems like a lot of people are afraid of fully unplugging from spotify because they'll miss out on music discovery. that's a role that music journalism can and should be filling.

He’s literally endangering the troops! His main job is to Bring Our Boys Home!

It’s really tragic that Paramount was purchased by evil corporate overlords and they own Star Trek. :(

So Dems had 255 seats in the House in 2009. Today even in a D+10 or better environment, Dems would be unlikely to hit that high. What changed? Just gerrymandering?

Tbh I do hate that hyperbole has completely perverted the discussion around this because I do think I can make a completely unhyperbolic case for why it is a societal disaster and it is simply the words "worst disinformation vector of the century."

A lot of the hyperbolic anti-AI stuff is just like… no, it’s not going to crash civilization if only because of natural selection: if it crashes some places, the places it doesn’t crash will outcompete the crashed places.

But also a lot of the hyperbolic pro-AI stuff seems silly to me too.

The biggest problem with "Strong Floor, No Ceiling," besides being structurally unsound, is the enemy it identifies.

It’s whoever is trying to put “a ceiling” on the top-earning Americans.

That should be the Democratic Party. It's a slogan that runs against its own party base!
It’s time to start the 2028 primary and step over this donor-coddling "Strong Floor, No Ceiling" nonsense.

For @gilduran.com and @george-lakoff.com's @theframelab.bsky.social, I wrote about why DC Dems won't appeal beyond the donor base.

There's another way to put an expiration point on Trumpism.

there's this thing where like... a lot of people respond extremely poorly to righteous anger that does not find the perfect spot (one that does not challenge me) and focus on the latter part and deny the motivation for the anger in the first place

Yesterday the President fell asleep, yet again, during a televised fake Cabinet meeting staged so that each of his courtiers could heap praise on him, praise for which he couldn't stay conscious. He woke up just long enough to spew racism. Why is this not being treated as an emergency? >

Sometimes the intensity of AI hate weirds me out a little too but like cmon people hate it bc it’s coming for their jobs, and usually it’s literally visual artists and animators on here who are already facing nonzero financially meaningful competition from AI.

Maybe we won’t be rid of Trump until at the bare minimum we acknowledge that even if he’s an idiot he’s an extremely American idiot.
December 4, 2025 at 1:01 AM
It is actually so funny that he fell asleep in a meeting, knew he had fallen asleep in a meeting and said “ugh what’ll throw em off the scent and show them I’m still sharp as a tack… I know! RACISM!” This man is an idiot but he knows how to play to a goddamn crowd.
Trump, continued: "What the Somalian people have done to Minnesota is not even believable. It’s not even believable. And a lot of it starts with the governor. A lot of it starts with Barack HUSSEIN Obama, because that’s when people started coming in... They want to kiss our country good night."

I genuinely pray to god that this book puts this dead species of poetry out of its misery. It was always too slight to last for long. If she discredits this precious posture, often unearned, she will have done the world a service.
I cannot believe I am going to force myself to read this thing

No interview, won’t hand over his phone, ordered war crimes… it’s time to cut drunky loose.
MORE Breaking on MS NOW: Pete Hegseth refused an interview request for the Pentagon Inspector General's investigation into Signalgate, according to two sources who read and were briefed on report.

Hegseth would not turn over his phone, a source who read the report told MS NOW.
Breaking on MS NOW: The Signalgate report contradicts Pete Hegseth's claims he did nothing wrong. It shows he "violated policy by using a non-approved device," a source who read the report says.

Hegseth failed to preserve records. The report says he put the operations and service people at risk.

We all, at times, are the son who stayed with the father in the parable of the prodigal son, and we all need to be reminded that it’s good for the “undeserving” person to be treated well. We have all been underserving at times too.

You know I used to yammer all the time about how moral mediocrity + privilege can = monstrousness and that’s basically the American electorate, tho I wonder if we’re approaching one standard deviation under moral mediocrity.
In LESS THAN A CALENDAR YEAR these absolute cretins figured out, oh yeah, Donald Trump is old and maybe not a magical send-it-back-to-2019 switch we can flip and I personally loathe the shit out of them for it. Thermostatic public idiocy more like
