The problem with the so-called "nonviolence" of the Civil Rights Era is that it is misnarrated. The retelling in the "American myth of progress" version of the Civil Rights movement was that it was completely nonviolent.

That is not true. Plus let's call it its full name "nonviolent direct action"
ehh, I may break my expensive sneaker boycott for these

Everything you love about America comes from Black people. And that's just the bottom line.

We may have been brought here against our will, but it's survived this long because of our presence.

Yes, that’s why my family left Germany because they really wanted to go to Great Britain and sort of missed it by thaaat much

It was in the early morning of Valentine's Day 1965 that Malcolm X's home was firebombed while he, his wife, and their four daughters were inside.

Everyone survived the attack, but exactly one week later Malcolm would be assassinated

I just question why it's *currently* green like it shouldn't still be orange/rust colored. 🧍🏾

killer part is, we told the creator of it YEARS ago on twitter. but since he's a white "ally" who "means well" he just ignored us all and keeps sharing it, and people keep also sharing it, glaring errors and all.
I've never liked this meter.

It's too neat. too much "linear progression narrative."

I get it trying to make a point, but there's so much nuance to these colors.

And that green area is extremely misleading. But that's just me

This is inherently why capitalism is unwilling to pull us out of the climate crisis, and the majority of our scientific success is not a result of free market economics, but rather from coordinated, industrial-scale planning, feeding on previous successes.

This is Frederick Douglass. He was an enslaved person who did not know the day he was born in 1818 (or 1817). He was mere property, and that wasn't recorded.

He didn't live with his mother, Harriet, as she belonged to someone else. But Douglass records her coming to visit him while he was young.

These voices are still the most relevant voices we should be listening to for our collective liberation
This is part of a greater roundtable that more people should watch. In it you see all levels of the political scale and the excuses those who aspire to be the ruling class have as to why we can't do what Kwame Ture says.

It's a battle we still see today.
