so it turns out Klippenstein left out a very important detail which is that its 170 crimes *of which a person has been convicted* not what they've been accused of

The nature of military operations is that there are rapidly diminishing returns for elite expertise on the battlefield. Shrapnel does not care. Get your geniuses in the classroom & on the training field.
(Most people wildly underestimate the competence of an ordinary ass American infantry platoon. I blame movies that show Schwarzenegger times carving through mooks by the dozen)

I think the main lesson of this thread is if you're going to do spicy econ posting, don't call out a popular creator by name while you do it. Even if you get it right, you're begging their shooters to interpret your point in the most hostile light

I am similarly curious to know how the Speech & Debate Clause protects political communications anywhere other than an official legislative proceeding

Historically, many of the problems we associate with precarity when making these arguments were easily solved with a pine box
I think some people are confusing "poverty line" with "at what level of wealth/income do you need to be at to not get totally screwed by a health event or a major accident?" and the answer in the US is "very, very high"

One year until a new Congress-elect. Three years until a new president-elect. The Trump Administration doesn't have time to be this bad at their jobs
Important to note that DOJ could re-file even though it's outside the statute of limitations. There's a savings statute that allows a new indictment after the SOL if an indictment w/in the SOL is dismissed "for any reason." I'm not sure if that applies where the first indictment was ultra vires.

I really think these guys underestimate how many Democrats consider Gabby Giffords a living martyr & would happily take a bullet for her family, much less help fight a bogus court case
