Something that scrolling through Feeld is reminding me is that — independent of my personal proclivities — I have always disliked kink first dating because it always feels like someone saying, “Here is my elaborate scenario that I’m looking for a body to slot into” and that is not for me.

I saw someone make a comment about how Shane Hollander looks like someone with one white parent and one Asian parent, and how the show gave him a white dad but then his mom also looks mixed white-Asian, and it reminded me of how Degrassi TNG gave the obviously mixed Cassie Steele two Asian parents.

Apropos of nothing one of my favorite stories about my dad is that when I was in high school I took him to see Aronofsky’s Pi because I thought that he would like a movie about math and Jews and for the rest of his life he never forgave me for taking him to the movie where the guy drills his skull.

When you tell people that you have to really like a person to want to do something sexual with them everyone now is all "Ah so you're demisexual" and it's like, no, I'm not saying I need an emotional connection, I'm saying most people suck and my standards are high.

Guys as a published author who has worked in TV I just want to note that people who work — and especially people who succeed — in these industries are making calculated decisions based on what the market is going to support

Okay 5 eps in and I think the two most Canadian things about Heated Rivalry — aside from existing in a world where this many people care about hockey — is the use of the word cottage and the snide diss on Buffalo. I bet this show’s writers leave their trash in the Walden Galleria parking lot!!!!!

The thing that I am trying to communicate here, which is not about Heated Rivalry per se, is that it feels as tho in the same way cis people see the “drama” of trans lives as transition, they still see the “drama” of queer relationships as the closet, and that is very flattening.
Okay I have watched 4 episodes of Heated Rivalry and now my main complaint is that, while I understand why you can’t do a show about openly gay hockey players, or at least not a realistic one, I am a little bummed by how much of the dramatic tension in this show comes from the closet
