Actually just occurred to me that those of us who worked at Al Jazeera America — a hugely expensive boondoggle backed by an authoritarian regime that thought it could have it both ways — are uniquely well positioned to predict the future of CBS News.

we didn't have cable until i was in high school and in my hometown rabbit ears meant we got:

1) grainy CBS
2) almost unwatchable broadcast quality ABC
3) pretty good PBS

in retrospect this was good and sufficient

you can think less of Platner because he went to go work for Constellis doing security contracting for the United States Government in 2018 but it's dirty pool to back-impute the many horrible failings of Blackwater c 2006 to him.

i am seeing a lot of this and it's not true, fwiw.

Platner worked for Constellis in 2018; it's true that Constellis is the successor company to Blackwater after a bunch of name changes and mergers and acquisitions, but Erik Prince stopped being involved in 2010.
