Time for another what-is-AI thread, because there’s a lot of confusion, seeded on purpose by shitty vulture capitalists trying to sell stuff.

AI is a legit branch of computer science with a LOT of different approaches & addressing MANY different types of problems.
He is ADORABLE. My 7yo mini poodle still chomps my forearm when she’s excited. 🙃 Tho she’s usually more in control of how HARD she chomps it than she used to be.

For more than two years, Jared Kushner has sought to build a Trump-branded complex of towers in a central Belgrade site once bombed by NATO.
But the plans are running into resistance in Serbia. On Monday, a special prosecutor indicted four officials including a cabinet minister over the project.

Noam Chomsky’s emails to Jeffrey Epstein display none of the fawning chatter found from, say, Larry Summers. And he does not appear to have been co-opted by whatever access Epstein provided.

What the Noam Chomsky–Jeffrey Epstein E-mails Tell Us
Chomsky has often suffered fools, knaves, and criminals too lightly. Epstein was one of them. But that doesn’t mean Chomsky was part of the “Epstein class.”

Grateful for abortion drugs today. Had a post-minor-surgery uterus clot causing lots of bleeding and instead of ANOTHER surgery, I got to take meds also used for abortions and get rid of the clot with some cramping at home. Much safer and easier.

My kid did accutane and it has been permanent for them but in case your derm didnt warn you, heads up that it’s only permanent for like 70% of people, and also that it’s ROUGH; literally shuts down oil production so skin is dry as hell. Rough on organs too. nothing else worked for kid tho, & it did

It was magic for me, too. Yay, drugs!

(Not fried, but definitely oily! And decadent. I enjoy making Hanukkah about small luxuries; I feel like that’s what the oil is a symbol of.)

Oh yesss. Tonight I’m making halibut in scallion oil. Not fried, more sautéed but you cook scallions in oil til they’re dark and then cook the fish in the oil, and mop up the scallion-infused oil with bread alongside the fish. It’s delicious.

Thought about trying a kouign amann for the same reason!

Me too! That said, I’m scanning your thread bc I don’t know what to get my husband. He hates stuff unless he needs it at which point he buys it for himself, and has stopped eating much dessert so delicious candy is a no-go… 🤔🤔🤔

Man it’s so disorienting & frustrating to encounter people who agree on part of something (eg, Hillary Clinton is bad and should go away) but for entirely the wrong reasons. 😵‍💫

I hope they like it! My mom has really suffered with IBS these last few years and it’s so fun to be able to introduce her to fun things to eat that won’t make her sick (this has none of her triggers in it), bc eating has been so angsty. My dad loves trying anything new, so I think they’ll like it!

Rob Reiner was a good guy. He made a lot of movies about good guys, in worlds where not everyone was good and you didn’t have to be good. He made movies about people trying. He was angry, as many hopeful people are. He knew the world could be better and he wanted it to be. His death is devastating.

It’s so awful and regressive and horrible to people generally and especially to women in particular. Every subplot is infuriating.
