I like having read great books, even the ones that make me uncomfortable. And the Baru Cormorants are on my TBR! I just go from a book every day or 2 to one every week or two when they get too heavy. Weirdly, Broken Earth didn’t bother me; maybe bc we spend most of it away from oppressors?

I have been dragging my feet so hard on this. I find it’s hard for me to read many books that are *about* systemic oppression—Handmaids Tale & its sequel took me forever too. This one is well-written and interesting, but every time I start reading I have to watch ppl be treated like crap. 😵‍💫 At 50%.
