Reintroduction post! I am a science writer/journalist who also writes science comics in collaboration with @makinaro.com . My cats are Callisto and Nebula. I post about science, music, comics, politics, cats, porg karaoke, and human rights. Racists, anti-trans/anti-queer bigots, etc. will be blocked

Callisto (a stripey brown white and orange cat) and Nebula (a dark gray cat with silver paws) lounging in a sunbeam. They are almost but not quite cuddling.

People want to be able to say they wrote a song, or a book, or a screenplay, or a beautiful drawing. But they don't want the work that actually entails.

There's a social media trend of people attempting to run marathons with zero training and a take that really resonated with me is doing this means that you never really fail. I think the AI people have a similar mentality. They want to be able to say they have done a thing without doing it

the point is that calling antivaxxers "medieval" or "dark ages" is a mistake, because these positions *require* modernity to even exist. These positions are reactionary, not in fact historical.

I'm an amateur historian of science at best, but one thing you find is that *all* of these horribly antiscientific positions (flat earthism, creationism, antivaxx) are rejections of modernity, and therefore are themselves relative newcomers.
