In UX, one of the lessons you have to learn is to balance what people say they want with what they actually want.

Looking at this, people want to ask questions without judgement. They want to access knowledge. They want free time.

The problem is AI only offers illusions of this.
This is so soulless, I can't stand it. We have BRAINS. We can USE THEM.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.

I also connect this to the heavy armoring of our police departments even as violent crime dropped.

I feel that the combination of racism, paranoia, and appeals to create secure fortresses start perpetuating a cycle of further paranoia. The sunk cost must be justified as well.

Kinda yeah. This also fits with my theory abt Elon Musk selling CyberTrucks to people with fortress appeals. He grew up in SA, and one of the ways I tell Australia & SA apart on first glance is that SA suburbs are often heavily fenced. And the why of the fencing is an Angry Goose query.
My grand unified theory of suburbia is that camera doorbells are like SUVs, they provide an illusion of security while making you more paranoid
“Camera doorbells are social cancer as a technology, breaking down social solidarity and further encouraging people to see strangers with suspicion.”

Great news for all who care about telling the truth & the full story of American history. The Mississippi Delta barn where Emmett Till died is now owned by the Emmett Till Interpretive Center thanks to a major donation from Shonda Rhimes. It will open as a memorial by 2039.

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.

What did I say when I read that Asthana book? I said that when the fiery denunciation versions came out, they would in large part just be exactly the same people doing and saying exactly the same things, except with the author saying “and this was bad and probably illegal”.

Dad's friend brought pot, which was then illegal. He had a box of multiple types, including weed-infused honey. Dad demanded that he get it off his property. Friend walked to the edge of the property and wedged the box in the fork of a tree.

This was in rural, forested NorCal. We have bears.
