Ah yes artists, famously undedicated to their work, never obsessive, who don’t understand {checks notes} creating things.

This shit right here is why people hate you AI assholes. Myopic and arrogant.

You’re not creating or iterating anything? You literally invented a soulless box to do it for you.

(6/11) Uber tracks battery life. Former exec Keith Chen noted in 2016 that users with low battery are statistically more likely to accept surge pricing. Uber says it doesn’t use that data to set prices, but the correlation remains a point of regulatory scrutiny. www.npr.org/transcripts/...
This Is Your Brain On Uber
This week we feature Keith Chen, a behavioral economist at UCLA and the head of economic research at Uber. Keith explains why surge pricing makes us nuts and discusses our weird economic choices.

that's fucking disgusting.
(5/11) Walmart, Whole Foods, and Kohls are switching to electronic shelf labels that can display dynamic prices. Kroger deployed them with Microsoft AI—a setup a 2024 Senate inquiry warned could enable “surge pricing” via facial recognition. (Kroger claims it will only lower prices.)

Evil.

This kind of thing is why I don't use Uber. I call local car services or flag down a taxi.

Jenny Nicholson has this place's number. They excised all the planned engaging/interactive elements, and stuck 'em on Star Cruiser so they could upcharge for what was once included in the ticket price.

So when Star Cruiser shut down, what was left was a themed mall, but with fewer places to sit.
I was surprised the new Disney CEO shit-talking the Millennium Falcon ride at Star Wars land, and then almost no pushback from the internet, with almost everybody agreeing with that statement (which, man, how often do you ever see *that* online?)

I found 80s music I had never heard before.

youtu.be/3-nTXUUKCro?...

I have a pretty extensive 80s knowledge, and even them being German shouldn’t have kept them off my radar. (And arguably should have increased it, given my German teacher’s love for synth pop.)

I think the most humiliating part of this is knowing that chinese people are one of the biggest apple markets, we assemble the products, we write a shitton of the code, but the phones still can’t tell if our eyes are open or not. it’s 2026, I thought it would’ve been fixed by now

This is an ethnic cleansing campaign, which I don't think people can wrap their heads around.

when i was recruiting for warming center volunteers in a wealthy suburb, several people at the farmers market didn’t understand what i meant. they had not considered once in their lives that some of *their very own neighbors* might freeze to death on the streets bc they have nowhere else to go
it’s a different kind of dehumanization of poverty but dehumanization nonetheless and just as deadly as the casual murder of the elite

the point youre failing to connect to is:

1. capitalism is an exploitive system, regardless of race.

2. no one in america is more exploited than black people.

3. racist outcomes are systemically built into america's (and the globe's) capitalist structure.

it isnt a victimhood to point this out.
