an addendum to that post where the OP said that folks recite Shakespeare rather than act it and that's why people think its hard to understand

they recite it instead of act it because THEY don't fully understand it

This also indicates the essential dishonesty of saying “it’s just a tool.” A hammer is a tool. Nobody writes about the “inevitability” of hammers. Nobody has ever studied the harmful effects of hammers on learning and concluded that teachers must all hit their students with hammers “responsibly.”

but we also know how much people care about the original definition unfortunately

This is the original meaning of death of the author and a part of criticism in general! Essentially, "I see the intent of the author, but this piece of work is what I have to work with and their intent is separate from my interpretations of their piece."

it happens ALL THE TIME

people want to be smarter than everyone so badly on this site that they really go to a theoretical physicist and ask for sample size on her casual observations bc they can't handle a black jewish woman just having thoughts

i just read someone posit the question "how do you know their race" when @chanda.blacksky.app said that BW she KNOWS had an opinion different from white people

and try to pretend that was remotely in good faith

i think this is a situation where "misreading" the movie doesn't apply

i often tell certain people in my life "its not that i don't understand what you're saying. it's that i disagree."

there's what the movie thinks its saying, and what black women are receiving from the movie when they watch
weredawgz.blacksky.app
and it deffo required all the parts to make it work!

Missy Elliott and “Get Ur Freak On” coming through from 2001 with a perfect response for people who want to prompt their way through AI to “write” lol

its interesting to see a black woman's review of a woman that talks about the sexualization of black women in the movie

and folks who are not black women telling her she didn't get the movie

it ain't about what the movie thought it was doing, bruh

I'm absolutely convinced what makes Shakespeare inaccessible to a lot of audiences isn't the iambic pentameter old english it's the fact most plays are rehearsed as spoken verses and not acted with meaning

because when actors actually act out what they're saying it is So Clear

People who think the idea of "give me ideas" is something genuinely creative people want have literally never experienced the absolute EUPHORIA of a brainstorming breakthrough, either solo or with a human collaborator. They don't understand what is happening when artists create, on a basic level.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

the real answer is why Tron

instead of giving me a REBOOT comic to write
weredawgz.blacksky.app
the answer is probably a combination of what it can thematically do everytime tech takes huge shifts

but more importantly, a 'flop' doesn't mean it doesn't do well for the company manking it, or for the cast and crew

it's probably useful

Then in 2010 they made a sequel to TRON and that was a huge flop too, despite being helmed by a director who later became a mega-hitmaker. Why go back for more? It's weird!
