The Administration

- raised taxes on clean energy with one big beautiful bill

- is stopping or making clean energy projects harder to be built

- is raising prices on materials with tariffs

- all while AI is spiking electricity demand

They are stopping supply while demand goes up

It’s a crisis

SCOOP: The Bureau of Land Management says the largest solar project in Nevada — the Esmeralda 7 mega-farm — has been canceled

The news was quietly dropped via a sudden website update with no public word from any of the companies involved or a statement from the agency

Esmeralda 7 Solar Project Has Been Canceled, BLM Says
It would have delivered a gargantuan 6.2 gigawatts of power.

An arch here, some more gold embellishments there, one big banner of Dear Leader... and boom. It sure says something that it only takes a few small tweaks to turn the design of our capital city into the instantly recognizable seat of a fascist government.

I can't imagine the Nobel Committee would delegitimize itself and devalue the Peace Prize by giving one to Trump. They're not the U.S. Supreme Court.

Up there with "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!" from Dr. Strangelove but that was at least fiction.

We're spending $20B to bail out Argentina, but they cut USAID down to the bone, causing deaths around the world. The entire budget of USAID, the whole agency, was $21B last year. Shameful.

The Trump administration confirmed that the U.S. bailed out Argentina.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he had directly bought Argentine pesos in global currency markets in a bid to relieve pressure on the nation’s embattled President Javier Milei, a supporter of President Trump.

You can be 100% sure Disney has at least solicited pitches for this!

I bet a Waterworld reboot script is sitting on a shelf somewhere. My sense is that if you can name a movie that came out in the last 40 years, you can bet the studios have considered rebooting it.

Yeah, I love it and even though I've seen TRON it's not what makes it fun.
brooklynspoke.bsky.social
Seems similar to 20th Cent Fox's investment in a Planet of the Apes reboot. The 2001 version flopped. Ten years later they tried again and had a blockbuster that minted them money and successful sequels.
brooklynspoke.bsky.social
Simple: In an era of exploiting old IP, Disney thought it could reboot one of the few titles it had in its back catalogue that could be turned into a big budget franchise. Failed, but makes sense to keep trying. Plus: synergy! Tron rides in two parks now means the need content to keep it relevant.

Hopefully the rest of the country is learning a lot about a specific form of effective activism from Portlanders. Love it.

Andrew Cuomo keeps saying he’s the only candidate who can take on Trump once he’s in office.

Yet in his statement about the indictment of Letitia James, the highest-ranking Black elected official in the state, he doesn’t even mention Trump by name….and, more importantly, he doesn’t mention James.

In a democracy, the rule of law must be sacred - impartial, objective, and above politics. When the law is weaponized or manipulated to advance political agendas, it erodes public trust and weakens the very foundation of justice. Whether it comes from the right or the left, from prosecutors or politicians, the politicization of law enforcement is dangerous and corrosive.
We must restore faith in fairness, facts, and due process - because once justice becomes partisan, everyone loses.

Imagine a NYC free from freely parked cars - open space, clean air, space for buses to run frequently and on time. Our obsession with private internal combustion engines as a mode of urban transportation is having a huge negative impact on our quality of life.

You're right; it's not free, everyone else pays a cost subsidizing car owners' entitlement to storing their personal property on "free" space in one of the most expensive places in the world. Could you imagine if I put a storage unit in street parking? Because it's the same principal. End overnight street parking in Manhattan. All of it. It was that way until the 1950s.

If NYC residents cannot afford to rent a private parking space, taxpayers should not be subsidizing them with free street parking. The City would be a nicer place if most parking lanes were abolished and sidewalks widened.
brooklynspoke.bsky.social
One reason I've never wanted a car in the city is because of the sheer amount of brain space having one takes up. Not having to think about a car all the time or worry about tickets or it getting damaged is liberating.
brooklynspoke.bsky.social
When we talk about the "tyranny" of the automobile, this is it. You're never not thinking about your big metal box, where to store your big metal box, when to move your big metal box, and what you'll pay if you don't store your big metal box correctly.

Keep your corrupt, grubby, abusive hands off Tish James, Donald Trump.

Your cowardice is showing — weak men seek revenge on powerful women who hold them to account.

But NY’rs don’t play. Our AG has been a fierce warrior for our rights, time & again. You better believe we’ll be there for hers.

This is great. And making the bike lanes around the park wide and two-way would really help get some transportation cyclists out of the park. It's also just the right thing to do.
swiftysanders.bsky.social
I am quoted in this article.

"A cycle track around the park would get a ton of use and it’s going to take pressure off of Central Park," said Chris Sanders. "That would solve like 99 percent of whatever the perceived problem is for Central Park itself."
