Circling way back to this. I saw this film in Sept 2024 and was struck by the vein of sadness and loneliness it mines. It's almost more powerful than the filmmakers realize (they play it a bit funny with the fake "where are they now" ending, for example).

Burnside's point is that maybe the 40 km/h speed limit on Avenue Rd and other streets is too low. Getting a ticket for "going 50 or 51 on Avenue Road that's six lanes wide, seems to be the kind of thing that would get under people's craws," he says.
