You can't interest her in a little Dracula vs Frankenstein action?
alexvorkov.bsky.social
That applies to 75% of the movies on my shelf.

That's awesome. I haven't watched the special features yet, but I'll look for those interviews.

Sometimes I imagine Dyanne Throne and other actors in those films reading the scripts and thinking, "Sure. Why not?" 😄

#watched THE ROBOT VS THE AZTEC MUMMY (1958)

A gangster/mad scientist, tired of his plans being foiled by the Aztec Mummy, builds a robot warrior to help him steal the mummy's treasure.

This promotional artwork for the 1958 Mexican horror film, The Robot vs the Aztec Mummy, features an illustration of the title characters squaring off in combat while a mad scientists looks on gleefully.

I'll have to see what that looks like when you're done.

I'd be stuck on 5 after an hour.

Choosing 250 favorite films sounds quite a project.

You're going to make me watch Lady Frankenstein today, aren't you?
alexvorkov.bsky.social
Fringe cinema is the best.

It's actually fucked up how many movies (and now a TV show) have been inspired by Ed Gein, not to mention band names. I even had a glow in the dark Ed Gein T shirt when I was a young punk who thought that kind of thing was a lark. 😆

Kind of a butterface, to be honest, but he looks good from the back.
IN a scene from the 1971 horror movie, Lady Frankenstein, the titular character (played by Italian actress Rosalbi Neri) watches has the monster she created lumbers through her laboratory.

ILSA, SHE WOLF OF THE SS, despite its exceptionally exploitative nature, is not an irredeemable film. The cross-cutting between scenes of sexual titillation and brutality is intentionally jarring, and the self-proclaimed superiority of the villains is exposed as the farce that it was in life.
Ilsa, played by Dyanne Thorne, inspects newly arrived male prisoners for their attractiveness.

#watched ILSA, SHE WOLF OF THE SS (1975)

The commandant of a medical experiment camp tortures female prisoners for business and sleeps with male prisoners for pleasure.

Only the 1970s would merge bawdy sex romp and Nazi atrocity docudrama. One of the trashiest films ever made.

I'm not sure the origin of this artwork for the film Ilsa, She Wolf of the S.S., which features the titular character, played by Dyanne Thorne, in her Nazi uniform over a plain white background. The actual theatrical poster has Ilsa standing in front of a large swastika, but I thought that might trigger Bluesky moderators to remove it. Remember kids, it's only a movie.

"Almost" lost, not "also" lost.

It's always fun to happen upon forest ruins.

Next week the colors ought to be near peak.

#watched CURSE OF THE AZTEC MUMMY (1957)

Gangsters kidnap a woman who knows where the treasure of the Aztec mummy lies, but anyone with good sense can predict what happens when they put their grubby mitts on the mummy's gold.
#mummy #horror #mexico
The poster for the Curse of the Aztec Mummy, a Mexican horror film from 1957, features a somewhat disjointed collage of scenes that don't really happen in the movie as depicted. The elements are connected by a spider web as a backdrop, so I guess it's fair to say all these random scenes got caught in the web.

That's a bummer. We also lost a whole "village" of stone ruins in a wildfire last year. They're still standing as far as I know, but a lot of the trails I used to hike around them are closed due to fire damage.
alexvorkov.bsky.social
Here are a few fireplace ruins I was able to dig out.
alexvorkov.bsky.social
I could do a thread of forest fireplace ruins. I'm sure I've mentioned this, but most of our state parkland was formerly iron mining and smelting operations in the 1800s, so ruins of furnaces, mines, and homes abound.

IDK. I'm still scarred by the "special edition" of Close Encounters. 😄

A few more trail pics from today. It was gloomy with periods of soft rain, but sometimes those are more peaceful days to hike.
A shot from a forest path shows colorful foliage in a field, backdropped by a dense cluster of trees. Over the eons, a very small gorge has been carved out by a river winding through the forest. A narrow trail, less than a foot wide in spots, hugs the hillside above the river. late-blooming purple flowers add a pop of color to a field that abuts the forest.
