It's actually fucked up how many movies (and now a TV show) have been inspired by Ed Gein, not to mention band names. I even had a glow in the dark Ed Gein T shirt when I was a young punk who thought that kind of thing was a lark. 😆

ILSA, SHE WOLF OF THE SS, despite its exceptionally exploitative nature, is not an irredeemable film. The cross-cutting between scenes of sexual titillation and brutality is intentionally jarring, and the self-proclaimed superiority of the villains is exposed as the farce that it was in life.

The commandant of a medical experiment camp tortures female prisoners for business and sleeps with male prisoners for pleasure.

Only the 1970s would merge bawdy sex romp and Nazi atrocity docudrama. One of the trashiest films ever made.

I'm not sure the origin of this artwork for the film Ilsa, She Wolf of the S.S., which features the titular character, played by Dyanne Thorne, in her Nazi uniform over a plain white background. The actual theatrical poster has Ilsa standing in front of a large swastika, but I thought that might trigger Bluesky moderators to remove it. Remember kids, it's only a movie.

Gangsters kidnap a woman who knows where the treasure of the Aztec mummy lies, but anyone with good sense can predict what happens when they put their grubby mitts on the mummy's gold.

The poster for the Curse of the Aztec Mummy, a Mexican horror film from 1957, features a somewhat disjointed collage of scenes that don't really happen in the movie as depicted. The elements are connected by a spider web as a backdrop, so I guess it's fair to say all these random scenes got caught in the web.

That's a bummer. We also lost a whole "village" of stone ruins in a wildfire last year. They're still standing as far as I know, but a lot of the trails I used to hike around them are closed due to fire damage.

I could do a thread of forest fireplace ruins. I'm sure I've mentioned this, but most of our state parkland was formerly iron mining and smelting operations in the 1800s, so ruins of furnaces, mines, and homes abound.

A few more trail pics from today. It was gloomy with periods of soft rain, but sometimes those are more peaceful days to hike.

The ruins of an old stone fireplace stand along in the forest.

A wider shot of the same fireplace shows stone blocks covered in weeds. I assume these blocks were once support elements for a small house or cabin.

In contrast to the stone ruins, this lean-to made of sticks and leaves won't leave much of a time stamp, but it makes for a nice shot all the same.
