Yeah there was a small burst of activity a year or two ago but it fizzled out (I assume primarily bc A) moderation is p nonexistent and B) ppl engage more with short form social media) and I'm still an advocate for it but its a huge boulder up the hill

I think its fine, for me "comp splatoon" just feels more natural to say in conversation

"Oh, I'm a pro splatoon player" has wildly different connatations bs "Oh, I'm a comp splatoon player" at least for me

Something to consider as well is a long term space that is easy to parse and share links through - I can still find decade old squidboards posts like the los inklings recruitment post 10mins but if I tried to do that on twit/bsky I'd go insane unless I had saved it previously

I can see that and I get why I just think forum would be the best long term solution to the problem of "we need a community discussion space but all the good ones are run by Shit People and every one we switch to is only good for a short period"

Like, just the bsky/twit split has already fractured the community nearly in half in terms of reach and engagement, ppl aren't ready for when discord inevitably hits the shitter and it becomes possible to jump ship as well, bc that will have the same effect

this is why im still active on twitter its the same shit different ass and imo, but maybe for the best, u get so disconnected when everyone moves away to their own little platforms we have a hard time consolidating splat comp info as is and it will get Worse so i cope and deal with unideal sites

I have to agree unfortunately

I don't see a path forward for the community where we fracture across different socials even more privatized then discord in some cases

Imho we need a smogen forums equivalent, doesn't have to be squidboards just some central space controlled by us for discussion
