Anyways, my worry is always that he will be misinterpreted, or seen only as a dramatic and angry character.

There's so much more to him than that, and every reaction he takes is intentional on my part.

Its one of the reasons why I'm pretty selective about writing him. He does not always respond in sanitized, sociable, or healed ways. Most of the time he doesn't! He WILL grate against other characters sometimes, and he won't always be this pristine, perfectly kind character.

Sometimes i feel like this is the expectation. That every interaction needs to be a Healed and Rational interaction.

Aster is a seriously unhealed person. His reactions to things can be extreme or unpredictable. Its intentional.

I worry a lot that people will jump at that LOL...

I'd really appreciate if writers these days took a look at their characters doing therapyspeak and whether that's appropriate for their work and their world.

By "therapyspeak" I mean speaking like this: "This is the emotion I'm feeling, and feeling that emotion makes me want to act in a way"

It’s not something that would ever come easily or quickly, but damn would it be fun to write.

For Aster, love ends where his morals do. He will not walk into the fire for someone, nor will he break his own sense of justice. Even for a lover.

HOWEVER. I think it would be interesting to write that change, slowly over time. As he is shaped by devotion in a way that isn’t nefarious for once.

I think a relationship dynamic id love to explore for Aster is an “I would die for you, I would kill for you” kind of romance.

For Aster, love has always been conditional. It has always been weighed against perceived sin

I think a desperate, obsessive love would befit him as he sheds his old self
