needless to say i would not want to be governed by basically any Christian religious denomination in the US outside of *maybe* the Unitarian Universalists (if you count them to begin with, which some people don't—and even then that's still dignifying a sort of mysticism i don't super care for)

mainline Protestants and Catholics in the US are really bailed out in perception by the evangelical movement, because they can let evangelicals take the heat of advancing theocratic stuff unashamedly, and—because they still ultimately agree on a lot—reap the benefits of anything evangelicals win

the second you compare non-religious cultural/voting habits to almost any religious denomination, the second you get your answer here. non-evangelical Christianity basically only looks good grading on a curve with evangelicals on it, and even then that's being pretty generous to most denominations
