Really excited by the influx of poets and poetry lovers on Bluesky this weekend. Hi!

By way of introduction, here’s a poem of mine published in the Best Canadian Poetry anthology many moons ago. Hoping to share newer stuff very soon!

Really sad to discover that the City of Vancouver has ended Mountain View Cemetery’s Night for All Souls. It feels incredibly out of touch to take away a beautiful community event that helps people move through innumerable types of grief, particularly this year. Hopefully it’s just a pause.

This is the best. My colleague and I were pretend casting the film version this morning and Mescal came up for us as well 😂

Seascraper may not have been shortlisted for the Booker Prize today, but I felt this novel deeply and I’m so proud of my friend for his discipline and brilliance in writing it #benjaminwood #bookerprize

Somewhat bemused that this book didn't make the Booker shortlist, so wanted to spread some additional love for this beautiful and quietly powerful read. ❤

"Whether it’s harnessing a horse, cooking a fry-up or tuning a guitar, Wood transforms the quotidian into the poetic..."

Jeff Hiller deserved every bit of that Emmy. Somebody Somewhere was so special and Joel’s character was the beating heart of it. I really hope the show can be revived someday.

The last 18 months have mentally and physically filleted me, and I can’t tell you how happy I am knowing hockey is back soon. I don’t even care about the Cup anymore. I just want to see Conor and Brock and Quinn and Thatcher and all the other guys that sound like they’re from Dead Poets Society.

Listening to records and hittin’ the sauce 🍎

(just coming out of a flu clearly conjured by my worst enemy - may the sounds of my expiratory wheeze wake them each night at the witching hour)
A big ol’ open container of apple sauce (the fifth container consumed by the flu-ridden author) balancing on a couch arm. Record player in the background and crate of records on a chair. Big convalescence vibes, baby.
