Here at Penn State, we rejected Simple Syllabus until they agreed to certain data protection concessions.

So don't blame the company. Blame the universities adopting the tech.

Universities should be protecting their students and professors — and academic freedom, of course.

That's a pretty big question with a pretty important answer.

You'd think Apple would want that question answered very publicly unless it rolled over and gave the government access.

He's not wrong. Collective action is the only path to successful resistance. But so far, news organizations, law firms and higher ed have all sucked at it.

I grew up watching Bob Ross paint happy little trees on public television. PBS was my earliest connection to art and culture.

Hopefully his donation will ensure that other kids in rural markets will continue to access free educational TV and radio.

At the Broadview ICE detention center outside Chicago this afternoon, things are (relatively) calm.

A vet-organized protest is planned for 4-6pm. After 6, curfew is in place.

Masked agents enter the building. ~1 month ago we would've been able to photograph them from Beach St, but not anymore.

I leave Texas and all of a sudden Ted Cruz and I agree on multiple things. First, it was that Brendan Carr is acting like a mobster and now it's that the First Amendment provides a reporters' privilege.

Damn right.

And the strong reporting hasn’t come only from legacy outlets such as the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune but also from newer independent media such as Block Club Chicago, the TRiiBE, Borderless, Unraveled, and South Side Weekly.

There is nothing like being there and seeing things with your own eyes, which is why local journalism is so important.
