It’s also disappointing that someone who wants to run HHS still uses obsolete stigmatizing language like “addict.” Here are some alternatives and why it matters.

Language Matters
Language is powerful - especially when talking about addictions.
Stigmatizing language perpetuates negative perceptions.
"Person first" language focuses on the person, not the disorder.
When Discussing Addictions...
