“One day, when it’s safe, when there’s no personal downside to calling a thing what it is, when it’s too late to hold anyone accountable, everyone will have always been against this.”

I mean, some of those movies are fine as horror movies, I’m not a hater. The last thing this world needs tho is more stuff that TradCaths can nourish themselves on

tbh based on what I’ve seen, I’d pick a RackaRacka CU over the Waniverse any day. I’ve got a surprisingly hearty appetite for horror based on Catholic mythology for someone with no religious trauma, but the Warrens are legit villains irl & I’ve got no appetite for their rehabilitation

Especially intrigued by the similar worldbuilding to Talk to Me (2022). If there’s a RackaRacka cinematic universe brewing, I’m here for it.

Saw Bring Her Back (2025) last weekend with my friend’s ma (who at 80 gets a big kick out of laughing at gore) and I found it pretty exceptional. Sally Hawkins is world class as always & so great to see her in something like this.

and just as with the Ito story, Sherman’s hole is perfectly shaped

I fell into a Bradbury book and found this

and like...this is Nosferatu/Dracula. if it matters anywhere that filmmakers do NOT pepper a lot of faux-Jewish, Hebrew-containing occult imagery into the background, it matters in the Antisemitic Stereotype Monster movie

I highly recommend this zine, not just as cogent analysis of the specific subject matter, but as a grounding in the broader topics of antisemitism and cultural appropriation (both of which are *abundantly* misunderstood and wrongly weaponized).

if you're curious about WHY every other occult horror movie is chock full of Hebrew-lettered diagrams, & also why this actually sucks, you can read my (citation-heavy) zine on the subject here ezrarose.itch.io/fyma-a-lesse...

Weird, this was a qt of a post about Ed Wood that mentioned the movie about him. Anyways, that’s the biopic in question.

Hey don’t miss Martin Landau’s performance as Bela Lugosi in that biopic. Read Landau’s bio first, too (wikipedia or whatever), so you can spot the resonance with his own life! Always chokes me up that it’s where Landau finally got his Oscar.

It’s the eagerness to abdicate one’s humanity that I just find incomprehensible.

Look, automation has its uses, and I understand that tech gimmicks can be fun. But we need to automate drudgery so we can make art, not automate making art so we have more time for drudgery.

Come to think of it, I always assumed it was *intended* to be from the point of view of an awful person. An exploration of darkness via an unsympathetic narrator.

But the songwriter refers to it as an “ode to a bitter break-up,” which… ain’t the same thing.

I’m reminded of a love song I wrote in the 80s (mercifully not in this pathological genre) for someone who I later learned was (plot twist) a Dramarama groupie

For strategy to be effective, it must be based on a detailed analysis of the terrain.

I love that Dick Halloran from THE SHINING has a cameo as a teenager in a flashback in IT.

I think you misunderstand the point that jagoff was making; he didn’t say they were *of* the republic, just that the organization that first used the name “Antifa” as a shorthand name arose during the republic.
