But if the city >35K is within half a mile of a station in a city <35K?
annepaulson.bsky.social
What about when a station in a small city is just at the edge the border of a large city? Then does the half mile circle apply in the large city, even though not in the small city?

Those letters weren't just mnemonics, they were the official names of the phone number areas. My childhood number started with CR for Crestview.

In honor of this post, I pulled an Ashmead's Kernel out of the fridge and am eating it. So good. Tart, juicy, crunchy, it's everything an apple should be.

We can hope the first ring of upzoning pushes the population up so that Burlingame becomes eligible for the second ring.

I meant, the court finding A CITY out of compliance, then any builder's remedy project can refile in THAT CITY.

It's Burlingame. 75 foot buildings (120 dwelling units per acre) allowed inside the green circle. And parcels right next to Caltrain can be 95 feet tall.

Even better if they were six stories. Which is now allowed. 😊
annepaulson.bsky.social
That's good enough. That's a lot of prime real estate.

If the court found the city out of compliance because the low/VL sites allowed 100% non-residential, couldn't any builder's remedy project just re-file? Maybe the city wasn't out of compliance, but if a court says so, it's out of compliance now.

The developer only has to get one building. And there are a lot of SFHs near transit on the peninsula. Mountain View in particular is loaded with targets.

This is awful, why would anyone want their city to be like this:
Hôtel de Sens park in Paris, with three, five and six story buildings surrounding it. The little, sunken park has benches around the edges and flowerbeds in the center. It's a green oasis in the heart of the city.

Buildings, yes, strokes, no.

I recently got back from Paris, where almost all buildings are five or six stories, at least where we were staying. It was amazingly great.

It's an interesting fact that none of those single family houses is presently for sale. Almost as if some investors knew SB 79 might be signed into law.

Sadly, Burlingame is one of the cities where the transit radius is only a quarter mile. But quite a few parcels with one house on them were just upzoned to 100 du/acre, 65 feet tall. Oh no.

Good for you. Hopefully someone sane from the city will look at that and immediately order its removal. In the case of a hazard like that, I'd go to city staff and also immediately go to a City Council member.
