I'd rather use right back burner before this!

You know what, let's do the Annual Mister Global National Costume thread tonight after all. Usual rules apply - this is all in fun, this isn't about the contestants looks or making fun of them, it's about the costumes and appreciating them (or, you know, making fun of them...)

This movie is AGGRESSIVELY green though. I'm realizing it's less that Twilight "looks like that" and more "that's what Hollywood thinks Washington looks like."

Teenagerism: "I doubt this movie would look any different on an Game Boy."

The Ring (2002)

The last horror movie that managed to heavily unsettle me until Hereditary. I love the mystery imagery that all comes together in the end and the dead faces are still great.

Please let me skip this Sakuko fight, it fucking sucks.

RIP Diane Keaton. I was...obsessed with The First Wives Club movie in middle school.

(That sentence is called the "deck" or "drop head". In a traditional paper you'd always read it second.)

:: everyone getting justifiably mad at this movie review ::

A single nuclear warhead, of unknown origin, is heading toward the U.S. mainland in Kathryn Bigelow's new Netflix film. It's an unnerving scenario — but it's also thrilling to watch. n.pr/48przga

I'm not one to pick at plot holes but no one's actions in this make sense. The animatronics aren't scary. One is a tiny cupcake. The bad guy is a child kidnapper that wears bunny armor. His daughter is a cop who insists she is called Vanessa.

Halloween Movie Night #10
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)

I guess this is a meme movie like the Minecraft from because my son thought it was hilarious. If you aren't tapped into that... This was awful.

Drew Barrymore gives the best performance. Amazing opener.

It feels weirdly in conversation with Columbine although it predates the massacre by years.

Halloween Movie Night #9
Scream (1996)

This movie was a lot of fun after watching all the previous slashers with Erik. There's an energy to this movie that I haven't seen in a long time. I didn't know I was nostalgic for 90s teen interactions. Lillard is unhinged.

I shared it in a Discord with my husband's DnD group and that got at least one pre-order!

We had intrepid reporter @kalaichik.bsky.social at the premiere for an interview (coming soon) and the world premiere of the anthology! I'm...very jealous!

[Review] Like the longest (but enjoyable) roller coaster you've ever been on, the eight episodes based on the creator of Chainsaw Man's early works are a wild ride from start to finish.

It's a beautiful, dreary day outside. I love it.
