Same! Like.. everything irl is stressful enough this year, leave us with some potential for holiday cheer at least, come on!๐Ÿ˜‚
I get that! I'm really wondering where they'll leave all the characters next episode.. and also really hoping it won't be a really bad cliffhanger, because I really don't need that kinda angst over the holidays ๐Ÿ˜…
I'm choosing to stay cautiously optimistic since I desperately need some optimism in my life atm, and I'm saying them talking less is because Buck and maybe Eddie too has had a little bit of a feelings realisation. Nothing big, just enough to make it feel awkward. The big one will be on screen
And it was also just a moment for Eddie, for his faith, for his family. Yes, Buck is an important person in his life, but some things he needs to do on his own and that's allowed. Not everything has to or even should include Buck
Keeping them apart definitely feels deliberate! But you know what else they are doing whilst keeping them apart? Establishing their relationships with other characters. You can't have them get together and have no one to go to outside eachother.
As for why they didn't show Chris with Buck?
To defend Buck not being there, it was literally still the same day. Abuela just died and they turned around after the coroner drove off with Abuela and saw the parade.
Chris wasn't there, for all we know he was with Buck?
Not exactly, no. But I can appreciate the cultural significance of the episode, I can appreciate Abuela's conversation with Eddie about him looking for God's presence in the wrong place when he was going to church etc. It was just fucking heartbreaking ๐Ÿ’”
That's true! It probably just hit me a little extra hard because my own grandma passed last month, and since she lived in a different country I wasn't able to be there for her funeral or anything
My biggest issue with this episode is that I was hoping for closure on Eddie's grief, and though we got it to a degree, we just added more grief on top of it. I hope they manage to somewhat settle everyone's grief next episode. I can't do this forever

Who the fuck looked at the current state of 911 and thought "I know what this show needs: more grief"
Maddie took a call from a ghost that took a tumble off a cliff during a different halloween episode
I really want this to be true, because like you said, otherwise they're just being mean. But then they also said this wasn't going to be the season of perpetual mourning... I'm still waiting for an episode that doesn't have grief as the main theme......
Now why the fuck would they go and do something stupid like that?

Whatever happened to s9 not being the season of perpetual mourning?
I don't understand why people keep putting that out into the universe ๐Ÿ˜ญ

thinking about how 9x1 kinda proves that 7x4 was about Eddie because Buck is still being a jealous bitch when the person Eddie is hanging out with is a married lesbian

Fandom isnโ€™t your job. Take a month off. Take 3 years off. Post incomplete fics. Post incomplete art. Never post again. Switch fandoms. Stay loyal to one fandom only. Do whatever tf you want. You literally make all the rules of engagement in this arena.
The most respectful part of how this whole thing has been handled has been Athena's grief, which was beautifully done! But it's wild that that's the best part
I had to send this one to the groupchat when it came up on my FYP! Pure gold, and so fucking on point
Exactly. I feel like ppl in a position to actually do something about it refuse to because it costs money and they're apparently too dumb to think about the fact that not doing something about it now, will lead to so many people struggling worse and it affecting their ability to work etc
Exactly, which leads to burnout, which leads to even less staff, and the profession as a whole looking less attractive to young people trying to figure out what they wanna study.. it's a vicious cycle
It really is! And (at least where I live) any type of place that offers psychotherapy is always chronically understaffed too. There just aren't enough qualified people to help everyone that needs it
Thetiming was immaculate! But also.. if any of her younger siblings wnd up needing trauma therapy down the line were fucked ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
