(3/2, lol) On Anye's father's side, the Devereuxs are a minor Ishgardian noble house renowned across Eorzea as world-class vintners. Their wines are of such quality that they were elevated to nobility from merchant status rather than inheriting nobility through heredity.

(2/2) Velodyna would be annexed by Gyr Abania a few decades prior to the Autumn War with Gridania, and was largely culturally-assimilated save for the town of Ala Arghyl, which held fast to old Velodyne customs. Sadly, Ala Arghyl was totally destroyed by Garlemald during its invasion of Gyr Abania.

(1/2) In Anye-lore, Velodyna was a small nation wedged between Gridania & Gyr Abania in the early Sxith Astral Era. It was primarily a mercantile nation, serving as the easternmost seaport in Aldenard, and the people had a strong relationship with the local faefolk a la Voeburt on the First.

For Anye, I had an overly ambitious story in mind of her uncovering a family curse, culminating in a D&D style campaign with other players, but it stalled due to scheduling.

Since I was away from XIV for a bit for surgery, I plan to just make it an "offscreen" thing that happened in that absence.

For the storytellers & roleplayers, how do you handle when a long-term story told through RP falls through? Either when it did not go to plan, or was unable to be completed due to life getting in the way? Do you retcon the storyline, or find another way to make it work?

Lorewise, Anye is just the name her parents gave her. She has her mother's surname instead of her fathers, as her father had burnt bridges with his own family and didn't want to burden her with association to minor Ishgardian nobility she likely could never rejoin.

Anye isn't afraid of ghosts (more fascinated by them), but she DOES have a crippling phobia of voidsent, largely stemming from a curse put upon her lineage. Now that the curse has been lifted and the fear is no longer supernaturally enhanced though, she's made some small progress in overcoming it.

Anye is actively trying to improve herself. She spent so much of her previous line of work putting the needs of others before her own, so she's now working on re-learning how to care for herself and prioritize her own happiness.

"Anye Vael" is a standard name I've used for player-characters in sci-fi & fantasy RPGs dating back to KotOR 1. I just thought it sounded cool. So naturally, hopping into XIV, that was just the name I picked.

I think XIV Anye is the definitive Anye though. Easily my favorite of them.

Anye would jump right into volunteering for relief efforts. Locating survivors, sheltering & feeding people who were suffering, performing triage, that sort of thing.

She'd basically default to doing what she did in her previous criminal life. Just, with less stealing from the rich first. Only aid.

Saoirse, Anye's gunblade, is a custom-built piece that's made to be sturdy, yet light with minimal recoil, so that she can wield it in a manner more akin to the fencing she grew up learning.

She also has an actual rapier, Rósálainn, with dreams of someday learning Red Magick.

Anye would probably do well in therapy. She's not shy about sharing her feelings and listening to advice if the advice-giver is trustworthy, and a therapist able to develop a good rapport with her could do a lot with that forwardness.

Somewhere in the late Fifth Era through early Sixth Era, probably. It's Anye's specialty as a historian, so seeing it in person would be an incredible experience, especially seeing the events that gave rise to Red Magick and getting to see her ancestral Velodyne homeland in its heyday.

Anye is highly attractive, having both the graceful features of an elezen and the curvaceous figure of a highlander. For her part though, she doesn't give it much thought aside from being occasionally annoyed by some people assuming that her highlander stature means she's a 'dommy mommy.' She's not.

time to go all out, writers. what themes do you explore in your WoL/OCs character?

for example; aurora tackles themes of femininity, motherhood, womanhood, (in some cases) religion. For me when i make decisions as small as gender it can completely alter how I write a character!!
