I make art. Sometimes people pay me to make it. Sometimes I put it in little books and sell them. If you are interested in that sort of thing, you should go have a look at apopheniart.wordpress.com

I helped a friend move house once and when we moved their couch we found about 40 or 50 plastic bottle caps their cat had batted under there

My indoor cat when I try to interest her in toys: meh 🥱

My cat when she finds a random pencil of plastic fork on the floor: 🤩⚡🔥💥

Yet another reason to never support the Salvos*

*(On top of their history of supporting/enabling abusers, open homophobia, manipulation of vulnerable people dependent on their services to adhere to their toxic ideology, etc, etc)

Salvation Army seen feeding ICE today. For anyone who doesn't already know about their bigotry, here is more, No need to give them your money this Christmas, or ever.

It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.

I imagine she was probably already aware that he was very ill. It's nice for her that he wasn't just taken away & she got see what happened, to the very end. Less jarring and confusing.

That's so devastating. I'm so sorry your beautiful friend is gone.

My partner, who is not religious but very interested in religion, has been watching a bunch of what are basically Worldwide Anglican Communion drama videos on YouTube. I went to an Anglican highschool & even I wasn't aware how messy it was - there's a whole splinter communion! With a stupid acronym!

This has the vibe of when people upload pirated tv shows to YouTube scaled down and surrounded by a thick border showing a random screensaver to fool content matching. Was the GF broadcast also flipped horizontally and slightly pitch-shifted? 😛

I love the way they go to release him and he's just like "Later, nerds!" and rips off into the distance.

I feel like if we were ever even beginning to get close to creating AIs that were sentient, it would be a pretty dire warning that we should call a halt. The idea of creating an entirely artificial being that is sentient is...grotesque and cruel.

I just found Mastodon to be...very inactive. Or not inter-active might be more accurate. Fair amounts of posting, little to no replying.

BSky is...marginally better, but I still don't post that much on here because I know it'll just be yelling into the void

All of those are answers to the question, but in different ways, with different levels of specificity, and they reveal that maybe the quotation itself is not specific or well worded enough. I'm going around in circles & just keep coming back to "the question we're asking is bad & we should feel bad"

The problem is that the data field we want them to populate has a list of valid values that are...kind of conceptually muddled, overlapping, etc. Like if you asked someone "What did you last eat" and the valid values were 'food', 'lunch', 'fruit', 'chocolate cake' and 'protein'

I did try to push back a bit about whether we need the particular info at all, given how hard it is to explain, but my manager was like 'we should ask for it anyway, just in case'. So what will happen now is that we'll try to explain it, external people will misunderstand & give us useless data

Trying to write instructions/an explanation, aimed at people outside my organisation, for a piece of information we require them to provide. The process is making ne realise that the way we collect/categorise that information is stupid & nonsensical, but I have no power to change things 😫
