the matrix 3 ends with music swelling as a character says "i had faith." and then faith is not a theme of the matrix 4 at all. it's a remarkable thematic shift. morpheus messed up and died. and what's even more amazing is that they didn't even lose any of my christian friends for it.

elden ring does have a different atmosphere to its fantasy that i think you could attribute to grrm. previous souls games often feel like dreamy fairy tales, everything is very archetypal and mythical. elden ring has more precisely defined court drama and political tension.
