here's the thing about items in dark souls. they don't always matter, but they matter often enough that it feels worth it to to out of your way to check out that glowing white light. but in a massive open world game... their value just keeps going down.

the wachowskis do seem to have a degree of contempt for video games... they believed their high minded philosophical ending was unsuited for the path of neo, and so had you fight big monster instead... and of course neo stepping off a building after winning a game award...
