I’ve just seen some stats that confirm that something I knew was a social fad is indeed a social fad. Good riddance to this nonsense. Can’t wait to see the cringe factor when Vox et al start reporting “Remember that time we were all ****?” Now, can high waisted jeans bugger off, too?

@albomp got rid of professor Andrew Leigh because he cares about inequality, isn’t aligned to a faction, knows what he’s doing and isn’t a populist control freak like the PM

The result, 1 in 7 are living in poverty, not 1 in 8. 1 in 6 are children - 757,000

Have noticed some interesting 🧐 social media experiments. Meanwhile, here’s a picture of my current field bag engaged in (human remains) excavation.

I’m fairly sure this is going to tear my heart out when I read it: A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

I wrote a review of A Canticle for Leibowitz in my private reading journal, I definitely didn’t do the book justice.

A black and white photograph showing two marble Christian crosses flanking a tall, dark coniferous tree (possibly a pine or cypress) in the center.

The cross on the right features a small figure of Christ (a crucifix). Both crosses are mounted on headstones that display the surname "TSONIS" in bold letters.

The scene is set against a dramatically cloudy sky. The bottom left corner is signed "© Bron Peirce."

Where is the anger and activism about domestic violence, poverty in remote communities, cost of living, housing affodability, environmental destruction, big business paying no tax?

There are a few more terms I'm going to block on here.

How depressing is this? "PayPal’s terms of service agreement was, at 50,000 words, longer than Shakespeare’s Hamlet." - James Marriot, The Times, 6 October 2025.

Lanyon Quoit in Penwith, Cornwall, is the remains of a prehistoric chamber tomb with a mound some 30m long. The monument consists of a huge capstone, 5.3m long, supported on four upright stones, standing about 3m high. It collapsed in 1815 and was re-erected. #StandingStoneSunday

Tingwall Standing Stone on Shetland. The stone is also known as the ‘Murder Stone’, and is connected with the death of Lord Skaldale by his cousin the Earl of Orkney in the late 14th century. 📸 My own. #StandingStoneSunday #Shetland

For #StandingStoneSunday, remembering a wonderfully atmospheric visit to the incomparable Castlerigg stone circle recently. The wisps of cloud in the valley added to the mystique.
Part of a stone circle curving from right foreground to left centre. The stones are mostly upright with a few lying down. They are in a grassy setting with mountains and clouds in the distance. Some of the clouds are dipping into a valley just above left of centre.

While listening … am washing cave bones from our July excavation… holding a partial ulna (front leg) bone in my hands of an Ice Age Spotted Hyena (the larger ancestor to modern spotted hyena in Africa). Yes, Ireland has these top predators/scavengers some 40,000 years ago! #PALAEOIreland 🏺

The Silent Keeper: Cross and Angel.

A focused, close up photograph of a small, white marble statuette of a weeping angel resting on a low pedestal in the Kingston on Murray Cemetery.

The sculpture shows the kneeling angel with its head bowed in sorrow, partially obscured by its wings and the base of a simple white Latin cross that rises directly above it.

The white statue is sharply focused against a soft, dark, and blurred background of dry foliage and eucalyptus branches, creating a solemn, contemplative mood.

The image is signed Kev Peirce.
