Mamdani has repeatedly said that he won't reduce NYPD staffing or funding, but the bloated NYPD won't be happy unless they continue getting a blank check from taxpayers, no questions asked. I don't live in NYC, but PD's acting with this sense of entitlement is all too common in America.

I'm inspired by the intentional and unapologetic manner in which the Sheibaum presidency in Mexico has supported the needs and sovereignty of Indigenous peoples in Mexico (what they call "pueblos origenarios"). I hope we can get there one day here in the U.S.

The people who want violent protests to happen are Trump, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Pete Hegseth, Tom Homan, and other senior appointees in his admin. They are doing everything they possibly can to provoke people to violence and it is obvious that is what they hope for daily.

The fact that protests now feature people who don’t normally have to worry about what might happen to them in an adverse encounter with security forces is a HUGE DEAL.

It means that the “real” victims don’t have to suffer alone. It means that some people care about something more than themselves

Not sure if the worst of the ICE goons is limited to latinos, but I'm not surprised at all when I see a latino acting this way. I grew up in a Mex-Am immigrant enclave. There was PLENTY of racism within my community. Putting people into large stereotyped buckets isn't super helpful.
