UK. Mostly here for film chat. Because trashy movies are always fun. I care about accessibility, so no 'Likes' on posts with no image Alt text. he/him https://linktr.ee/arghzombies

Yes exactly. Great ideas back then but still learning the craft. I don't think he managed to match his vision with his skills until Videodrome. Everything before that was just a work in progress.

It may be heresy to say it, but I think this version is better than the original. I don't think Cronenberg did anything decent until the 80s.

Can't really accept a movie where they decided to give one of the leads the name 'Clover' though. Who calls their kid Clover?
arghzombies.com
Yes, that's the one. If you want a modern gory movie then that one certainly fits the bill.

Gonna check out the UNTIL DAWN movie. I hear it's ok although doesn't really follow the story of the game. I'm just curious to see what they've done with it.

I think even when I'm 80 and future movies are all beamed into our brains to live the full sensory experience, if there's T2 showing on an old-fashioned 42" Plasma TV, I'll still pick T2 and think it's still one of the coolest movies.

Because it is one of the coolest movies.

To be fair, anyone who is in the same prison as a man like him was unlikely to be the best that humanity has to offer.

Had a hankering for another rewatch of this for a while, and tonight is the night.

TERMINATOR 2

Going either the superior version too - theatrical.

Genuinely surprised he lasted this long, tbh.

Yeah, I remember ME using it back then too. Still feels like it's working but magic.

You know a free app that's been around forever but somehow hasn't been enshitified?

SHAZAM.

Still free, still works great, no stupid extra features nobody asked for. Just a big button.

And it adds everything you scan to a playlist for you too.

Mine is 5hr long. (I've used Shazam a while)

One of those films where I'm genuinely not sure if I enjoyed it or not. So much of it is awful, yet there's a lot of it I had great fun with too.

At least rubber puppets are funny.
arghzombies.com
Yeah that was cool. Genuinely had to turn my eyes away from the screen at a few points, which is always a good sign.

Shitty CG climax though, sadly. Why do filmmakers think thats the only way to end a movie? Just use a rubber puppet.
A ★★★½ review of Dangerous Animals (2025)
A ton of fun. I kind of love Zephyr, what a badass, but fuck me she does some gnarly shit. It's great to watch a film going in blind beyond knowing that plenty of people dug it. Because this took me b...

Right, it's getting to that point in the year when I try to watch the films that released this year that I've not managed to catch yet. Starting with this, now that I have access to US Shudder.

It was so visceral. I've not played a Battlefield game that felt so raw and 'real' before. And I've played most of them.

Maybe there is humanitarian progress happening in Saudi Arabia. I mean, there were women in these audiences, which is progress, I guess. But then the regime still kidnap, arrest and execute hundreds of people a year - including journalists and foreign nationals. So that's not that progressive.
arghzombies.com
There's a difference between doing a gig in Saudi Arabia that has been arranged by some promoter who thinks there's an audience there, vs a festival arranged and run by the actual regime that runs the country.

He doesn't acknowledge that. That's the big issue with this event.

I loved the beta but can't really afford to get in on this just yet. But I will do. Battlefield games just hit differently to the COD ones. Reviews for the multiplayer side have been pretty great, thankfully. They're due a return to form.
