So, I've basically watched all the mainline Japanese #Godzilla movies - all 30 of them. So here's my overall ranking of them all. (Alt text for all the names and scores).

Starting the year as I mean to go on, by staying up too late watching movies.

So I'm going to finally get around to watching JOHNNY MNEMONIC.

Checking out this 2023 Guy Ritchie film that I think passed me by. Not that I make a point of following his career, I just don't think I noticed this existed.

Anyway let's check out if I missed anything good.

This is one of the best 'Do they know their lines' that I've seen in a while, because I think until recently it's quite rare to hear Jodie just chatting and telling stories about her career. And she just comes across as a wonderful person.

Enjoying RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER more than the first, even though the first was a decent game. This one just flows a lot neater. Less stopping for cutscenes or 'hit X at the right moment' events.

I think this is just how the current music trend is going, but I don't think it's a permanent thing. People like to play instruments, and kids especially enjoy learning to play physical music, whether it's piano, drums or just a recorder. Musical instruments will survive and thrive again.
Where did all the bands go? Ask anyone on the street to name the biggest bands in the world and they'd give you the same list they'd have given 20-30 years ago.

Why yes, I do like to eat popcorn and watch men in their 50s getting bitten on the dick by spiders and throwing themselves off buildings while covered in jam, so I'm always up for more Jackass.

OK, so here's my Top 10 movies of 2025. For totally unnecessary reasons I don't update it again after Dec 31st, so if I missed any then I'll have to live with that.

It was a good year really. Although I wish I watched more international movies. This is a bit of a Basic list. But hey, shoot me.

A legend past his prime is just trying to fade away in peace, haunted by the mistakes of his glory days. But when a young girl shows up needing protection, Logan - sorry I mean Robin Hood - has to pick up his weapons one last time...

Still digging into records I missed from 2025. Really enjoying this one from Paralyzed: Rumble&Roar.

Just straight-up bluesy stoner-rock, with quite a bit of The Doors influence (almost bordering on cover band on a few tracks). But a bit more laid-back.

I bet this sounds ace on vinyl.

Looking forward to 86-year-old Ian McKellan, digitally de-aged, shot on a Volume in London, really recapturing the magic of the original trilogy.
Sir Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood will reunite as Gandalf and Frodo in ‘THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE HUNT FOR GOLLUM’

Production will begin in May.

It might not be a vintage series, and the time difference means I can't get fully engrossed, but I'm still very much enjoying Test Match Special. Possibly the only sport that's better on the radio than to watch. The whole team are just superb. Could listen to them chat forever.

I loved THREE AMIGOS as a kid. Used to quote it with friends at school, like it was a meme movie or something.

But I've not seen it since I was a kid, so I'm curious if it's still good fun, or best left to nostalgia.

Hopefully the former, because I'm watching it now which will ruin the nostalgia.

Narco-terrorism just sounds like a made-up term.

What about bio-piracy or eco-manslaughter?

I had no idea Time Team was flourishing again. This is awesome, I loved that show. I'll 100% be subscribing and checking out some of their new digs.

Given in to peer pressure on day 1 of the new year - I put the bins out because half the street have done so too, even though I know they won't get picked up until tomorrow.

But what if the neighbours know something I don't? I'm not ready for the level of danger so early in the year.
